Should I Get a Breast Lift if I Plan on Having More Children?

Since having my first child and currently being pregnant with another, I’ve been thinking about my body image a lot. Between children, I made the conscious effort to try to lose weight and also get fit and toned but falling pregnant this time around put paid to those ideas right now. I was recently talking to some friends who are also mothers about our body images and our confidence issues and there seemed to be one area where we all seemed to agree – that we were unhappy with our breasts after children. A few of us hadn’t been particularly happy with them before children but everything that they’ve been put through since just makes them even more of an issue.

I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with mine. I hated them and wanted them bigger, they grew and I was happy, then they got even bigger and I wanted them reduced. Then I had my son and I was happy with the size but not the way they lay – and then I lost weight and was unhappy about them getting smaller. They aren’t too bad now I’m pregnant but its after I have my baby girl that I know its all going to go downhill again.

I must admit a mastopexy (otherwise known as a breast lift) has crossed my mind at times. “Mastopexy lifts and restores the breast into its position and helps improve your overall appearance.” says Dr. Mark Kohout, a leading Australian plastic surgeon.

I think a breast lift is much more for me than potentially getting them enlarged or reduced. I’m okay with the size of mine but its the way they lay, the way they sag that gets to me. I’m 26 – I should be feeling confident in my body instead of being jealous of my friends who seem to have the perfect everything.

But I’m unsure when I would or should get one if I do decide to. Should I wait until I’ve completely finished having children or should I have it sooner rather than later to boost my confidence despite planning to have more children in the future. It is certainly a tricky decision to make and one that will take plenty of thought and potential discussions with my family. I know my friends that have spoken about it are waiting until after children to potentially have a breast lift done whilst I know of others who are planning on looking into it sooner rather than later. It is such a big decision to make and only I can make it for me.

Should I get a breast lift if I plan on having more children? Should I wait until I’ve completed my family? Should I do it when I feel is right, even if I do plan on having more children? Should I wait and see how nature treats me after the birth of my baby girl? What would you opt for if in the same situation?
