I mentioned in my recent review of the National Geographic Kids magazine that we were recently asked to review some subscriptions from magazine.co.uk. We all opted for a subscription each and I chose a writing magazine, Writers’ Forum. You may wonder why I would pick a writing magazine but if you’ve been reading my blog in recent months, you will have seen me make more of an effort with my writing. I took part in NaNoWriMo, I have been writing poetry and uploading it to the blog and linking up with writing linkys – all in all, I have really started to get heavily involved with writing again and not in the sense of blogging or my freelance work.
I love nothing more than sitting down and reading a magazine or a book – and when that magazine or book is about writing, even better. Living in a small village means specialist magazines such as writing magazines aren’t easily obtainable which is why it is so great that sites like magazine.co.uk exist. You can find all different types of magazines on there that may tickle your fancy and can buy your subscription and then just wait for it to hit your doormat.
This particular issue was especially fascinating as it featured a couple of articles that really resonated with me. I really loved the writing exercises they hold so you can work on your writing skills. They had a fabulous article about breaking into cosy crime which is one of my favourite genres – and if I had enough faith in myself, would love to actually get involved with. There is a fascinating article about blogging in 2016 and of course there are numerous competitions and advice sections. With one of my aims this year being to enter more writing competitions, I will certainly be looking at entering some!
My latest issue has just dropped onto my doormat and I can’t wait to get stuck in! I’m curious, what magazines do you like to read?
