I have been worrying recently as Jack hasn’t been eating as much fruit and veg as he used to. He is in that tricky stage of thinking everything is totally ‘yuck‘ and I’ve been worrying he isn’t getting enough goodness in his diet. I am still giving him them with each meal but I wanted to try some other avenues to ensure my little boy was being kept as healthy as possible.
Priced from just £9.99, the new Bioglan SmartKids range couldn’t have come along at a better time. I remember taking vitamins and similar when I was little – I loved the taste and would have eaten them all given the chance – so when asked to review the new range, we said yes and waited eagerly to see what arrived.
There are four products in the range:
- SmartKids Brain Formula – citrus flavoured, designed to help support healthy brain function. Contains Omega 3 fish oil & several B-vitamins
- SmartKids Fussy Eater Multivitamins – A chewable tablet in blackcurrant and strawberry flavour, designed for those fussy eaters
- SmartKids Happy Tummies – Yummy yoghurt balls containing 1 billion good bacteria
- SmartKids Superfood Shake – A chocolate concoction packed with hidden super nutritious fruits and veggies.
Of course, in the interest of taste testing and wanting to relive our childhood, Steve and I also tried one each of the tablets and vitamins and had a sip of the shake.
So… what did we think?
Brain Formula
Fish oils are something both my Dad and Nan recommend taking so I was glad to see these included in the new range. Jack really liked these and their flavours although found the texture a little weird as did we. He has been having these regularly though and I would be interested to see the difference they have made.
Multivitamins
Multivitamins were going to be my first port of call when it came to my child not eating as healthily as I’d liked and just like I remember my vitamins being, these are absolutely delicious. Designed to help maintain healthy growth, immune function and healthy bones, Jack is more than happy to take his multi vitamin and these are easily chewable and easy for him to take due to the great flavour.
Happy Tummies
My oh my do I wish these weren’t a food supplement as we could just eat them all if we could. These yoghurt balls with 1 billion good bacteria in them are really tasty. Jack is more than happy to have these when given to him and I can rest easy in the knowledge that there are good bacteria working in his tummy to keep my little boy big and strong.
Superfood Shake
I was a bit apprehensive about the shake at first – after all, supplemental shakes from various MLM companies do get a bad rep (and with good reason sometimes) but as Steve said, its a food supplement, it isn’t a replacement and we would be in control of what Jack was eating and drinking.
I needn’t have worried. Jack still doesn’t know that these contain hidden fruit and veggies, he just thinks that he is getting a special treat of a chocolate milkshake from ‘the colourful packet’. I know that there is hidden goodness, Steve knows there is hidden goodness, Jack is just happy to drink his shake! This is a great resource to have in our arsenal for when Jack is being extremely fussy.
We are very impressed with the new Bioglan SmartKids range – apart from the weird texture of the fish oil supplements, we haven’t got a negative thing to say. We will definitely be repurchasing once we have finished these. You can purchase the Bioglan SmartKids range for £9.99 apiece on the website.
