Make a salad
A salad makes a fantastic addition to a frozen pizza, burgers or fish, but also goes great with just about anything! Making a salad is quick and easy to do and is a healthy way to add some fresh vegetables to your meal. You can also add all of your favourite ingredients, and because salads contain raw vegetables, they are high in antioxidants and provide many health benefits. Dress up a salad easily with a splash of olive oil, and season with some sea salt and freshly ground black pepper.
Add extras to your french fries
Making french fries from scratch, particularly with a greasy chip pan is a major hassle. That’s why frozen chips are so convenient. McCain make great tasting french fries that have an unbeatable golden crispy coating. Dress up your fries by topping them with some tasty chilli and cheese. Or why not serve alongside some homemade dips such as coleslaw, gravy or Marie Rose? Marie Rose is the easiest of all sauces to make: simply add ketchup to mayonnaise. Perfect with french fries!
Jazz up frozen sides
Frozen vegetables can come in extremely handy if you need to make a meal in a hurry. However, there’s no need to feel too guilty for not eating fresh. Frozen vegetables are typically flash frozen as soon as they are picked, so retain a lot of nutrients. Frozen veg can be easily spiced up by simply adding seasoning and some butter (particularly tasty with frozen peas). Frozen carrots go well when cooked with a small amount of honey, lemon juice, salt and pepper.
Make some homemade garlic bread with lasagne
Make some quick and tasty sides to go alongside frozen lasagne. Aside from throwing together a healthy salad, why not make some easy homemade garlic bread, and use up ingredients you probably already have in the kitchen. You can also add parsley, oregano or your favourite cheese to make it extra special.
Use frozen vegetables in stir-fries
Want to make a healthy meal fast? Stir-fries are quick to make and packed full of goodness. However, if you don’t want to spend time cleaning and chopping ingredients, you can use frozen vegetables instead. Frozen broccoli, peas, sweet corn and carrots all make excellent additions to a healthy stir-fry, and best of all, they don’t need to be precooked before you add them to the pan.
Frozen meals are great as they take the stress out of home cooking, but sometimes you need to add a little something to make them more interesting. Use your imagination and whatever you have in your cupboard and you’ll come up with a tasty and nutritious meal.

I don't really eat frozen food, but whenever I use a jar or like Mexican kit, I always add mushrooms, peppers, onions and chilli's to stop it being just pasta and sauce, or meat and sauce. Adding vegetables just makes it a more healthy option as well, especially if you're swapping a bit of your frozen food for some veg!

frozen peas + mint sauce = perfect side
I rarely eat frozen meals though we always freeze left over portions for days when we don't want to cook – though I've been enjoying jacket potatoes from the freezer section, way easier and quicker than cooking from scratch! Lucy at Lucyy Writes xx
