Don’t get me wrong I know it will be an emotional time when Jack heads off to full time school in September. My little boy is going to be joining Reception and that leaves me with around six whole hours of me time. Of course this me time will also need to include work, housework and similar stuff but I am looking forward to being able to actually just spend time doing what I like.
So what five things am I most looking forward to when Jack goes to school full time?
1. Getting more work done
This may sound like a totally bizarre thing to look forward to but I really am looking forward to it. When Jack was in nursery I had very limited time between drop off and pick up in which to get the days work done whereas from September I will have a few more hours to play with and not have to sit up well into the night to hit deadlines. With me going on maternity leave in January, I want to try and save up as much as I can in the four months I have to enable me to enjoy my maternity leave even though it will be short.
2. Enjoy some proper me time
I don’t often get to catch up with all the TV shows I like to watch, read a book or play more of bingo online but it is certainly going to be nice to have that option! I am still midway through the second series of Desperate Housewives which I really want to finish before my 30th birthday, my friends have been having some nice bingo wins recently and I am feeling rather jealous and also…have you seen my book collection? I really need to get that TBR pile down!
3. Be able to go into town by myself
You don’t even know how excited I am about this one. I struggle to get into town the majority of the time due to not driving or having a stroppy four year old. I generally only go into town if I go with my mum or Steve and Jack. I often need to pick up a few things from shops we don’t have available in the village and end up having to ask my mum to grab them when she is going in as I just don’t have time to get there, especially when Jack was at nursery and the bus times totally didn’t work around that. It is going to be so nice to be able to hop on a bus, grab the things I need and come home without being dragged into every available toy shop and having to stand at the swings or the merry-go-round for half an hour at a time.
4. I can nap more!
I have found that since becoming pregnant, naps seem to be becoming more regular as I am just getting so exhausted all of the time. I usually end up having a four year old terrorising me with facts about Pokemon or singing songs from Frozen in my ear so it will be nice to be able to grab forty winks here and there if I absolutely need it.
5. Alone time in general
Why have I put alone time in general? Well even if I am working, doing housework, napping, popping into town or catching up with my hobbies, I am only going to have this alone time for four months before the baby comes along so I am totally going to make the most of it!
What top five things would be on your list? I’d love to know!
