4 Ways To Declutter Your Life

Collaborative Post

When we mention the word ‘decluttering’ to you, chances are, you probably think about the possessions you have at home. And yes, this is one aspect of decluttering that we will mention in this article. However, there is more to clutter than the knick-knacks you have on your shelves and the pile of magazines that are taking up far too much space in your living room. In this post, we will be looking at some other types of clutter that need to be cleared from your life too.

Here are 4 ways to declutter your life.

#1: Declutter your home

So, let’s get the obvious out of the way first. We are talking about those magazines and knick-knacks we mentioned above, as well as those other items that are taking up far too much space in your home, such as the abundance of outfits that are filling up your wardrobes, and the mass of children’s toys that are scattered all over your kid’s bedrooms. Why should you declutter them? Well, you will finally have room for other things in your home, be that the latest in designer fashion to fit into your wardrobe, or the new toys and games your children are asking you to buy for them. By decluttering your home, you will be able to cut down on your household chores, as you will have fewer objects to sort and clean. And in terms of your mental health, you might experience a tidier mind when you have a tidier home. So, purge your home of ‘stuff,’ be that through selling, giving away, or discarding your items, and experience the benefits of a more ordered living space.  If you want to feel like you’re doing your part helping the environment while also recouping some cash, you could always sell your iPad, iPhone, and other electronics with an online recycler to help eliminate some of your household clutter.

#2: Declutter your computer

Especially if you use your computer for work, you are going to be far more productive if your desktop is clear of unnecessary files, and your document folders are tidied up. And your computer is going to run a lot faster too, as the more files that are taking up room in your system storage, the slower your device is going to run. So, get rid of those files that you don’t need anymore. Uninstall those apps and software programs that are surplus to your requirements. Sift through your photos and music files too, and relegate anything that you don’t want anymore into the trash. #3: Declutter your Facebook friends list

Okay, so you might be celebrating the fact that you finally have 2,000 friends on Facebook, but ask yourself, how many of those people do you actually consider to be friends? If they are people you have only met once, or if they are people that went to the same school as you (but barely knew you), then you might want to reconsider their place on your friend list. You see, the more ‘friends’ you have, the more cluttered your Facebook wall will be. You will then miss out on some of the posts your real friends have entered online, as you will be far too busy trying to sift through the stuff that has no real meaning to you. So, get rid of useless posts by deleting people you don’t really know. Then consider those so-called friends who post offensive comments on Facebook, or who make you feel bad about yourself because of the things they say to you online. You don’t have to put up with them, so delete them from your friend list too, as your time on Facebook will be a far more enjoyable one if you do.

#4: Declutter your mind of stresses

We can’t escape stresses in life, but we don’t have to suffer mentally because of them. So, if you are struggling to sleep because of the stressful thoughts that are going through your mind, and if you find yourself worrying on a daily basis, do something to clear your mind. Sometimes, a good walk can do much to free your mind of negative thought processes, as can time spent in meditation. Taking steps to deal with your stressors is obviously an important thing to do too, so if certain things are causing you sleepless nights and daily anxiety, find ways to get a handle on whatever they are. We know it’s easier said than done, but the more you can do to combat your stressors, the better, as you will start to feel the mental benefits when your mind is finally clear of those stressed-out thoughts that plague your day.

We’re sure there are all kinds of other ways to declutter your life, so aside from our suggestions here, consider those other aspects of your life that would benefit from a tidy-up. Let us know if you have any ideas of your own, and please share your thoughts on those aspects of life that we have discussed in this article.

Take care, and thanks for reading.
