Camping is one of those activities that we tend to intensely love, but in cycles. After ten or so camping trips it’s easy to feel a little tired of the experience and instead feel like getting out there and enjoying a nice hotel in a different location. That’s fine, you’re not limited to one experience over the other, nor condemned to a tent for the rest of your life.
But you may also find that rekindling your love for camping, especially now the summer is on its way, can provide a fantastic experience once more. It could also save you a good amount of cash, as finding a nice lot to set up in is almost always much cheaper than one night in a hotel. It can also open up opportunities for staycations in your own country or even town. With tandem trailer axles, you can also bring more gear than you had assumed.
Let’s consider, then, a few humble means for enjoying camping vacations once more, and helping it feel fresh again:
Learn New Outdoor Skills
There’s something to be said for just being in nature, but what about enjoying a few skills outside that you haven’t practiced before? For example, fishing goes hand in hand with camping and can be a wonderful experience to pass the time, to engage in some good conversation with your friends, and to settle into your daily hobbies while there. You might even catch a fish you can grill for dinner! Heading to the local bait shop and picking up a temp license for fishing in some rivers could help too. In some areas, fishers come to help cull overpopulated numbers, so you don’t have to worry about sustainability.
Take Time To Stargaze & Appreciate The Night Sky
One of the wonderful benefits of getting out in nature is that the night sky is right there, waiting to be appreciated. Taking time to stargaze, perhaps with a rudimentary telescope, can help you share magical stories with your children about how sailors used them to navigate seven seas. You might even see a few constellations you were once taught, or see amazing sights like shooting stars. In urban environments, light pollutants tends to make us forget about the majesty of the stars above, but sharing this with your family out in nature can be a wonderful antidote to that.
Enjoy Non-Screen & Non-Mirror Time
There’s a great deal of worth in getting away from the screen. We certainly appreciate you for reading this post right now, but what about putting down the laptop, the phone, the tablet, the constant notifications, and getting out there to experience more? Simply having a few days of no notifications (and also no mirrors) can help you reset to how you actually are, without the constant distractions of the modern age. For some, camping is a means of achieving exactly that, and can be appreciated with such a wonderful outcome in mind.
With this advice, we hope you can enjoy camping vacations once more, relaxing in a new normal you feel comforted by.
