JustFly’s Guide To Happily Flying With Children

I have been collaborating with JustFly for their best travel tips – I hope you enjoy!

Taking children on vacation is essential. While much can be learned at home or school, nothing beats being in the field, learning about different cultures, languages, and histories. With all that said, sometimes the journey to these destinations can be stressful for young ones for a myriad of reasons. Whether it is simply a fear of heights, planes, or crowded spaces, or something physical like ear pain, some kids simply just don’t like flying and can make the trip an uncomfortable one. While there are numerous anecdotal cure alls online, I decided I wanted to talk to travel experts. For this I reached out to JustFly, an online travel company. They provided me with some pro tips on helping children get through a flight.

Get Two Seats If Financially Possible

While not financially viable for all families, especially those with multiple children, it is highly recommended by JustFly that you do purchase a seat for your children. Why? This allows them to have their own personal space while travelling. Whether this means a place to play, sleep, or hang out it doesn’t matter. It simply makes the entire trip more comfortable for all parties involved.

Schedule Feeding For Take Off And Landing

While popping ears are more or less an inevitability when flying, there is something you can do to help lessen its effects. Eating or drinking gets the jaw working, helping to put an end to painful or scary ear popping sensations. So, JustFly recommends trying to schedule any feedings or snack times for the beginning or end of your flight as this will give your young travelling companion or companions the best chance to escape altitude related ear issues before they become a major issue.

Bring Something That Reminds Them Of Home

Last thing. One of the best things you can do is bring your child’s favourite toy or blanket along for the ride. While you may have already done this, the last thing you want to do is explain to your young children that their favourite stuffed animal or toy is in your checked bags. So, make sure that toy is in your carry-on bag. Why is this so important? According to JustFly’s review, doing this will make it easier for your child to get comfortable on the plane as they are bringing a piece of home with them as they head on for their exciting journey.
