Our house is a decent size house for the three of us. Once baby is here, it will probably be suitable for the first year of the babies life but after that we will probably have to look for somewhere bigger to live which is a shame. We do love it here – its in a really quiet part of the village, no trouble and no crime to speak of whereas other parts of the village seem to get targeted a lot more. Our master bedroom and living room – even our dining room – are massive but what lets it down is the size of the kitchen and bathroom.
We’ve spoken before about how we would make changes to this house if we were to eventually buy it. Of course now we would also need to build an extension as we wouldn’t have enough bedrooms once the baby is old enough to move into its own room. We’ve said how we would put laminate flooring throughout and knock the kitchen and dining room into each other as the kitchen is just so tiny. Another thing we would have to do is extend the bathroom somehow.
Of course, this is all hypothetical – whilst selling the house was discussed when we first started privately renting this house almost five years ago, nothing has been said since then but isn’t it nice to think about what ways you could change something to make it more like home for you? I’ve been looking at various bathroom products and imagining what my perfect bathroom would look like. We already have a tiny garden so an extension would make it even smaller but with the whole green outside our back gate, could we really complain? If it made our house more homely and more us, I certainly wouldn’t be complaining!
I’ve got so many ideas for this house that I really don’t want to leave it if I can help it but once the baby is here and space becomes more of an issue, that may just have to happen. But I can still dream about my perfect kitchen and bathroom can’t I – and imagine a day when I can actually have a bath in peace?
What would you change about your house?
