It seems right now that nearly everyone I know is getting pregnant or about to give birth and it got me to thinking about the gifts I would be buying them once their baby arrives. I thought I would put together a list of the top five baby products to buy for your friend which don’t hit your wallet too hard. What would you put on the list?
1. Nappies & wipes
These are probably the products they will be in need of the most and these will always be handy. Just popping these around after baby is born, perhaps with a home cooked meal for the new parents, will be really helpful.
2. Clothes
Whilst some parents will want to choose clothing for themselves, baby clothing will always be helpful, especially with the many changes they will be doing in the first few weeks. Laundry will pile up and so some fresh clothing will always be gratefully received.
3. A gift card to a shop of their choice
If your friend is keen to choose things for themselves, perhaps get them a gift card to a shop of their choice. That way you can still buy something for the baby but it will be a present that the parents actually want or need rather than something that is going to get shoved in a cupboard out of the way.
4. Bathing stuff
I would have loved more bathing stuff as gifts when Jack was born. We did get quite a lot anyway but as its something that will definitely be used, a present of some baby shampoo, baby bath and some other baby bath stuff would have been well received by me and Steve.
5. Footmuff
This might seem like a strange one but I was so happy when someone bought us a footmuff for Jack’s pushchair. We bought Jack’s pushchair in a panic and although it was a bargain price, we didn’t think about everything we would need. Luckily someone was on the ball and we were given one which was so handy during the first few months of Jack’s life as he was born in the middle of a really bitter winter.
