I love my house, don’t get me wrong, but I can’t wait for the day that we move out. Why, you ask? Simply put – I cannot put my own touch on things. This house has so much potential yet isn’t my canvas to play with. Does anyone else in rented accommodation feel the same?
I also find that this means that I cannot put into practice some great money saving techniques. Plenty of houses round here have taken advantage of such things such as solar panels which obviously bring utility costs right down. I’m not kidding when I say that we could probably do with some of those! If I owned this house, I’d also add a sun tunnel – apart from Jack’s room, the whole house can generally be quite dark which isn’t ideal when you need to take photos – so something like that from VELUX® online would be ideal for those dark days when no natural light wants to seep into my house.
Myself and Steve have so many ideas for what our dream house would look like – from the biggest details right down to the tiny ones. We know how many bedrooms we want, what specifics we want in each room. Much as we love this house, we can’t imagine Jack growing up here, especially when we cannot make changes to anything except for giving the place a lick of paint here and there. It is little wonder that people stay at home with their parents whilst saving for their first home – at least they know they can put their own little stamp on it! Maybe it is time for us to start making steps towards our own home once more – what do you think?
I rent from my parents and can only do what they want lol so sort of the same boat as you, within reason I can put something up somewhere, have it a mess etc they have also said I can paint my bedroom as its awful, but would obv have to be a "safe" colour. they own it so fair enough I can't wait for my own house either 🙂 … p.s nice rocking horse, starting the boy early to ride 😀 xxx

I really exactly the same! I live with 2 friends too, which is a lot of fun and cheaper than living on my own but sometimes it's bit frustrating space wise. I have A LOT of stuff and it's just things like having to keep my road bike in my room which is frustrating. I'd love to have my own place as now I'm 27, I would much prefer to have some form of 'office' area in somewhere rather than my bedroom. I just have too much stuff and no where to put it.

We rent too but luckily our landlord will let us do anything we want to the house…..She's just given us a 3 year tenancy agreement….We're happy to stay 🙂
I feel the same about renting I hate that we can't put our own stamp on the place with live.

We were told we could put up picture hooks and make the place our own. Our landlord is really nice but, in my experience landlord's are always nice till it comes to handing over the entire deposit. I am too scared to put in extra hooks or do anything to the walls!
My friend rents and she is always saying how frustrating it can be
We live in an expensive area and just can't afford to buy at the moment. I get so frustrated not being able to do anything and it only feels transient, it isn't 'home'. x
