Self-Care: Why It Matters For Mums

Collaborative Post

Self-care matters to us all, of course.

We should all find ways to eat a healthier diet, exercise more, and have more me-time in our lives. But if you’re a mum, there are some extra-special reasons as to why you need to place more focus on self-care in your life.

Here are the reasons why.

#1: You will have more energy

Because let’s face it, how many times have you ended the day feeling exhausted? With kids to look after, a house to manage, and perhaps even a part or full-time job too, we wouldn’t be surprised if you told us that you were desperate for your bed way before the close of the day. Life can be tiring, and that is why self-care is important. By forming good self-care habits, such as eating healthily throughout the day, and by spending some time in exercise, you will have more energy to get through the day without flagging. Heck, you might even have enough energy to have a human conversation with your partner once your kids have gone to bed, and you might be able to get through your favourite TV show without falling asleep. It’s also important to have medical checkups and treatments. Your doctor may recommend taking IV Therapy in Wisconsin, which is a perfect way of getting more energized and healthy by fueling your body with essential nutrients.

#2: You will be a good role model for your kids

If you want your children to take better care of themselves, they need to see you doing the same. So, eat the greens on your plate if you want your kids to do the same. Spend some time during the day in exercise away from your phone and TV as your kids might then be inclined to follow suit. And make time during your busy schedule for a shower and a pamper session, as your kids might then place more focus on their personal hygiene too.

<#3: You will be a less stressy mum

How many times have you flipped your lid at the kids for little or no reason? How many times have you fallen prey to stress symptoms when you have been going through your day? By spending more time focussing on self-care, you are less likely to explode (or implode) when your kids do something wrong, and you are less likely to fall ill because of the stresses that fill your day. So, take time out to relax. Find your own personal space so you can catch up on the things you enjoy. And bring in a babysitter or house cleaner once in a while, so you have more time for you, and less time for stress.

#4: You are more than a mum

And you’re more than a wife and a domestic goddess too! Don’t neglect the aspects of your life that you used to enjoy, as you might start to feel miserable if you do. So, make time for your friends. Spend time in the hobbies that you used to enjoy, be they activities you take part in alone or shared activities such as these dance classes for adults. Consider going back to school if you have fallen out of a career. Or think about starting a home-based business if you have any good ideas. In short, make time for your life goals and desires as, despite your care for the other people in your life, your needs are important too!

Today then, focus on your self-care. You will feel better if you do, and your family will also benefit from the efforts you make.

Take care, and thanks for reading.
