Prose For Thought | String To My Bow

I mentioned my intentions of writing more in 2016 – not blogging or freelance writing but working more on my novel, writing more poetry. That sort of thing. I have decided to take part in ‘Prose For Thought’ every week, a linky run by Victoria from Verily Victoria Vocalises.  I am yet to even participate but have found the whole community that take part in the linky to be a really welcoming bunch and I am looking forward to getting to know them over the next year. So here we go, with my first piece I am linking up. I’m slightly nervous although I really shouldn’t be. I’ve never really shared my work with many people before!

I may also take part in The Prompt in the future as I know that is where Victoria draws her inspiration from sometimes but this week I am going it alone.

*****

The year, it has started now

Things all start anew

But every day still seems the same

I don’t know what to do

Getting up, the school run

Answering emails galore

There must be more to life than this

Is it wrong that I want more?

Getting out there, making new friends

The home can be so lonely

I love where I am, I love what I do

But being a mum is not the only

String to my bow, I’ve got more to give

Is it wrong to want to achieve?

I’ll take a chance, I’ll be strong

If I just believe

in me.

  1. I really like this, love the way it flows, and I think it’s something that a lot of us can relate to. I’m still not quite sure where I go next, but it’s definitely not wrong to want more in your life x #prose4t [and it would be lovely to see you on #theprompt ;)]

  2. Firstly, thank you so much for linking up for the first time Rebecca – I feel completely honoured 🙂 This is a great poem – it flows really well and I love the strong, positive ending. Hope to see you again this week on #Prose4T x

  3. Hi Rebecca! Great poem – love the flow and the sentiment, you absolutely should believe in yourself. I think planning to do more writing in 2016 is a great goal. I run a linky called ‘What I’m Writing’ which you’re very welcome to join in with too! xx
