If you know anything about me, you will know I enjoy food and so does Steve. Another thing we enjoy is date nights – although with Steve working shifts and a toddler, these are a rarity. What you may not know is that we also enjoy a good flutter – on the lottery, on the horses, on the football, even on cards. So when I was told all about the Poker Stars All-In Kitchen, it sounded like the perfect date night for us.

I must admit that I am not the greatest poker player so I probably wouldn’t be of much use but Steve is quite good and his success could lead to our meal being a lot less than the guide price. To celebrate the new season of the UK and Ireland Poker Tour, PokerStars and Jones & Sons teamed up with the idea of the All-In Kitchen, the world’s first pop-up pay by poker restaurant. The better you are at poker, the less you pay for your meal.
With a three course meal costing around £50, you could end up paying absolutely nothing based on your poker skills. So how does it work?

First you play three hands of poker. How much you pay for your meal depends on the amount of chips you have left at the end of those three hands. You could end up paying near the full amount, half or even nothing. Even if you lose at the first hand, you may only still be paying £10 so it is definitely worth a try.

The night is proving popular and I can see why – the combination makes for a great date night or evening out with friends. Getting to have fun with a few hands of poker whilst tucking into Crab Thermidor, Lamb Chops or Scallops and potentially paying nothing sounds like a dream.
It is worth noting that the poker is completely optional so if people want to rock up and pay full price for their meal whilst basking in the atmosphere, that is totally okay. The event is all for fun – and fun it sounds! Having already packed up their pop up in London, look out for the All-In Kitchen somewhere near you.
