Playing Dress Up

 I love dressing up, I do. I don’t get to do it often enough now I am a full time mum although I am seriously debating attending the upcoming Blogger Halloween party – anyone else thinking of going? It may sound silly and I am in no way wishing the days away but I also can’t wait until Jack is old enough to go trick or treating, something I didn’t get to do all too often when I was a child. Obviously, not everyone likes trick or treating and I will teach him to respect that but I know how much fun it is and I am hardly going to let him miss out on that, am I?

I like an excuse to dress up, however those excuses tend to roll around once in a blue moon too. The only constant excuse is of course Halloween which is not too far away now! Never mind Christmas stuff being in the shops, I am more excited to see Halloween stuff at the minute (after all, it does come first!) and although Jack is still too young to go trick or treating, I definitely want to do something special on the day – what could I dress Jack as?

Over the years, my Halloween costumes haven’t been very inspired – I tend to stick to witch costumes more than anything – preferring to dress up at other times of the year as well (Oktoberfest barmaid being just one!). I’m hoping someone I know has a party this year (especially if I cannot attend the bloggers one!) just so I have an excuse to buy a new costume and hopefully not a witch one this time either! I’m thinking either a zombie or even better, the Red Queen from Alice In Wonderland! There is a fun little infographic here which shows the top 5 costumes for 2013 and amazingly none are witches!

 I find it amazing and quite jaw dropping that Halloween is actually the second most popular holiday and the second highest spend after Christmas – just how much are we spending on our costumes each year? Incredible!
