Our Halloween Traditions

Happy Halloween!

Do you have any Halloween traditions? We have a few – probably quite similar to yours – but I thought I’d share them today!

Pumpkin Picking

I shared photos from our pumpkin picking trip to The Pop Up Farm just down the road from us last year and we headed there again yesterday to pick up a couple of pumpkins! Don’t forget to check out these delicious pumpkin recipes if you’re wondering what to do with them afterwards!

We love visiting here to pick up some pumpkins – we even headed there in August for corn and sunflowers – and are so lucky to pretty much have it on our doorstep!

Pumpkin Carving

We haven’t carved ours yet – we’re going to be doing them tomorrow when we get a moment to ourselves – but it is a fun activity that the kids love doing with their Daddy.  I stay out of it – I am no good with all that mess!

Trick Or Treating

Olivia only started last year – see pics here – but is super excited for this year! She’s being a cat and Jack is being Harry Potter and they both cannot wait! We head to the more populated areas of the village as the road we live in is mostly full of elderly people so we don’t want to disturb them – we only ever go to houses with pumpkins anyway.

What else are we doing?

This year we are doing even more things! Jack is doing a half term club with an Aladdin theme although I am sure there will be some Halloween related things. Olivia is going to her Sounds Right Phonics Halloween party and she’s so excited!

Do you have any Halloween traditions? What do you have planned?

  1. We’re similar to you – pumpkin picking and carving and trick or treating. We also do a Halloween trail around our city that lots of shops participate in, doing activities or giving treats to the kids. We love this time of year!

  2. Love a few holiday traditions. We’re just starting ours – tonight will be hot mulled cider and a spooky movie.

  3. We have the same ones but we also go to a Halloween party every year too. It’s mainly because some of my favourite Halloween memories are of me at Halloween parties and I want the same enjoyment for my kiddos too!

I’ve never been pumpkin picking although I would love to. I don’t know anywhere near enough to us which is a shame. We do love to go trick or treating though!!!

  6. We’ve just been trick or treating for the first time as a family together – it was so much fun – but what to do with heaps of sweets now???

  7. Pumpkin picking is anew tradition in our house and the kids love it – the carving bit, not so much – it always gets left to me

I only carved my first pumpkin last year as my parents really weren’t into halloween so I missed out a little when I was a kid. I can’t wait until we move and we get trick or treaters knocking x
