Life After Children

People say that your life completely changes after having children and for the most part, that is true. Myself and Steve can no longer make rash decisions to do something as we always have to factor Jack and his needs into the equation. An impromptu holiday like we had the other week can become very stressful very quickly – it is all too easy to throw a few things in a bag for us but Jack needs nappies, wipes, changing bag, travel cot – there is no real room for spontaneity when you are a parent.

It is funny how your tastes and opinions change once you have had a baby too. I always used to be against a dummy – but when you have a month old baby who is full and clean but won’t settle down, you will soon change your mind. I always thought I’d make every puree from scratch, time soon told. I even despised certain clothing items before, now I find myself wanting them just like these crocs for kids – certain friends will tell you how far my hatred used to run for them and now I find myself adding them to every virtual shopping basket!

On that note, I am a total nightmare when it comes to shopping online for Jack – if I could afford it all, I certainly would click checkout every single time. Kids stuff is just so cute! I do like to treat myself and Steve every now and again too, although this doesn’t happen all too often – we tend to use any spare penny for Jack. This makes sites like Shoes By Mail perfect for us – they are affordable without being cheap quality and are something of a necessity to us – we lead such busy lives that we don’t have time to try on about twenty different pairs; we can get what we want instantly. A few years back, I would have loved to have walked round the shops for hours choosing stuff, but that is a luxury I no longer have.

Do you have children? What did you find changed after having them? If you don’t, what one thing would you want to remain the same?
