I bet we have all dreamed of what we would do if we were given a large chunk of money. We’ve thought about the things that we would buy, the places we would travel to, the things we would want to experience. But have you ever truly sat down and thought about what you would do if you came into possession of a large chunk of cash – legally, of course?
Whether you were to win the lottery or inherit some money, there is plenty of stuff that you could spend your money on. Sometimes you may even be sitting on a lot of money especially if you own your own home. Why not take a look here to see here how much your house has made you?
With the money, you must have a list of things you want to do or buy. I know I have. Whilst we hope to receive an inheritance soon, we know that not all things would be possible but we can dream. So what would our dreams be?
A family home
Depending on the amount of money I received and the situation in which we came to have the money, a family home would be top of my list. I’ve mentioned before that we would like to get out of this property soon as it is just too small for us now. A family home is top priority for myself and my family right now.
A new car
Our car is eleven years old this year and due for MOT next month – we aren’t sure if it will pass so a new car is very high up on our list. Something that has plenty of boot space and fits us all comfortably without being too expensive to run would be perfect.
Travelling the world
Whilst I wouldn’t necessarily want to travel all around the world, I really want to visit certain countries and would love to do this with my family if I received a decent amount of money to do so. I’d love nothing more than to spend some time on the beach, chilling out with my family. First of all we would have to get all the passports sorted! I’ve been dreaming of so many places – much like the team at Girls’ Gospel who’ve been dreaming of Mauritius!
Treat myself
I haven’t treated myself to some new clothes or anything like that for quite some time. It would be so nice to be able to hit the shops without having to worry about spending too much. My wardrobe desperately needs an overhaul – whilst I love my comfy ‘Mum’ clothes, I need some nice stuff for evenings out with the girls and date nights with Steve.
Pay off some debts
I am slowly paying off my debts but I must admit that if I was given a large chunk of money, I would be very tempted to pay off the majority of my debts. With us looking to buy a house in the future, my credit score needs to be as good as it can be – especially with being self employed – so paying off debts is a must.
Save some
Boring, I know – but saving some would be important to me. Putting some cash in my children’s savings accounts and putting some away for an emergency fund would give me peace of mind, knowing we are a bit more financially secure than before.
These are just a handful of things I would do if I came into some money – I’d also love to do some once in a lifetime experiences like going on the Orient Express but as we all know, this can be super expensive. What would you do?
