Living in rented accommodation means we don’t really have the opportunity to put our own touches on anything. We have to make do with what we’re given and that can be a tough pill to swallow sometimes. Renting in the current climate is tough (and expensive) but if we ever wish to own our own home, we need to take what we’re given and work towards our goal.
With plenty of our friends making the jump into buying, we have been reassessing our budget and seeing where we can make changes in order to come up with a decent deposit. Properties round our area aren’t cheap and we would also need some spare cash in case we wanted to renovate some of the house – as is often the case when buying, you will want to make the property feel like home.
As well as assessing our budget, we have also been discussing the changes we may want to make to any future homes. I have spoken at length about my want for a large kitchen and an office space but I also want the other rooms to fill like home too. I’ve often looked at different bathroom suites (click here) and imagined what my perfect house would look like with my perfect bathroom – the perfect bath shape, the layout. I’ve even imagine my perfect kitchen, my perfect dining room. my perfect everything.
I know owning and renovating my house is quite a way off so I have been living vicariously through other blogs, watching as they do them up with fancy new bathrooms, completely different kitchens and stunning gardens that I could only dream of having right now. I think its handy to have a goal to work towards and one of mine is definitely to have my perfect house eventually.

I rent my house as well, and I agree – it's weird because I never know what I can and can't do. Happily, we get pretty much freedom, we're free to paint, have pets, etc.
