I love a good Christmas party. Unfortunately working for myself means I don’t get to attend a work one and Steve unfortunately doesn’t have one at his work. A couple of friends hold Christmas gatherings and I will be attending the party at my Slimming World group (actually planning on attending all three to see some old friends from the other groups!) but I do miss a good old work Christmas party. This got me to thinking – wouldn’t it be nice to arrange something for those who freelance or work from home in my area?
Many of my local blogger friends blog full time or work from home full time doing other things (admin, accountancy, Slimming World consultant) and we have a Facebook group for the village business community – our village is big on supporting each other with our small businesses – so it would be nice to treat us all to a decent Christmas party, right? Unfortunately I’ve left things a little late for this year – and at eight months pregnant, it would probably be a little too stressful to try and arrange something last minute but I’ve been checking out the local Christmas party venues available in my area – there’s some really lovely places available, I’m almost tempted to try and throw something together last minute!
Venuefinder is a great resource as you can whittle down the details to find the exact thing you’re looking for – let them know the preferred town or city, style, number of guests, catering capacity and they will find the best suited venues for you. Finding the perfect venue can be really tough as there are so many things to consider – the suitability of the location for the guests, the style of the party (whether you want it styled or want to style yourself), the food (buffet/three course dinner/canapes), the dress code. You want somewhere that ticks all the boxes and will guarantee that you and your guests have a good time.
I’ve actually found the hotel up the road on the list of Christmas party venues – its also the location for the village community business meetings on Friday mornings so it would actually be perfect to take our custom there. Whilst its too late to sort something for this year, I will definitely be heading in once 2017 rolls around to enquire about perhaps holding a party next year. After all, we all love a good party during the festive season don’t we?
