Effective Ways To Banish Wedding Day Jitters

Collaborative Post

It’s only natural to feel anxious before a big event. When that big event is performed in front of your loved ones and is truly life-changing, you’re almost guaranteed to feel stressed. Wedding day jitters are a similar feeling to sitting your driver’s test or interviewing for a job. However, unlike those experiences, there is no way you could fail. Although it’s normal to feel butterflies, you shouldn’t allow them to ruin your big day. All that truly matters at your wedding is yourself and your partner, after all. With that in mind, here are ten effective ways to banish wedding day jitters.

Host An Early Party

While tradition suggests otherwise, it’s best not to host a bachelorette party the night before your wedding. Since heavy drinking is likely to occur, you should give yourself enough time to recover from the hangover properly. You don’t want alcohol to affect how you feel on your wedding day. Scheduling your party for at least a week before the big day works well. This is because it allows you a few days to deal with any late arising problems so that they can’t affect your special day.

Get Plenty Of Sleep

Stress can make nodding off difficult, but lack of sleep will only leave you feeling more stressed. What’s worse, the dark circles and under-eye bags might make you self-conscious. For this reason, you should try different methods of relaxing before heading to bed. Reading a book or having a warm bath can be effective. Like any other day, it’s best to get eight hours of sleep before your wedding. If you have to wake up earlier than usual, that means going to bed earlier.

Work With An Expert

Planning an entire wedding is no small or simple task. Doing so yourself will leave you constantly wondering if you’ve forgotten an essential element or made a mistake. That is why it’s best that you leave the task to an expert. Hiring a wedding planner will take all of that pressure off your shoulders. Instead of worrying that the photographer or caterer hasn’t arrived yet, you can relax while the planner deals with those issues. If you can’t afford a planner, you should delegate jobs.

Know The Schedule Well

Even with a wedding planner to rely on, you should know your wedding day schedule. Knowing exactly what should be happening and when will give you a sense of control, as you will be prepared for whatever comes next. A bride without a wedding planner must definitely be aware of everything that will be happening. What’s more, you should ask someone that you trust, like your maid of honor or mother, to learn the plans too, and have them guide you through the big day.

Wear A Happy Smile

Wearing a smile is believed to make you feel calm and happier overall. That is because it tricks the brain into thinking you feel positive, even when you don’t. Although you would think that a bride has plenty to smile about on her big day, that isn’t always true. Many people avoid smiling because cracks and fillings in their teeth make them embarrassed. That is why you should try strengthening your tooth with a dental crown. This would mean you have no reason not to smile.

Surround Yourself With Positivity

Anyone with an agenda about your wedding shouldn’t be near you. If there are any family members or friends causing problems, it’s important that you don’t engage with them. Instead, allow another member of your wedding party to intervene. You must surround yourself with those that only want the best for you. Positive people, like your bridesmaids, are those that you need around you on your big day. Everyone else can stay far away until you’re ready to speak to them.

Eat A Light Meal

In some traditions, the couple fasts before they get married. Unless you’re adopting this tradition, you must eat before the ceremony. While overeating won’t help, a light meal is essential. After all, you burn more energy when you’re nervous, so you need to replace that at some point. Plus, you’ll only feel more lightheaded and shaky if you haven’t eaten anything. Stay away from excessive sugar and caffeine and instead opt for a balance of carbs and protein to energize you.

Speak About Your Nerves

Any nerves or doubts you have will fester and grow if you ignore them. Because of this, you must speak about them with your nearest and dearest. Don’t allow your worries to overcome you, but do tackle what you can. If you’re worried about your distant cousins arguing, for example, you could ask a sibling to keep them apart. Taking action against what you can control will instantly lower your stress levels and make it more likely that your special day will go off without a hitch.

Take A Minute Alone

Most brides are surrounded by people their entire wedding day. If you’re more introverted, you might find the constant prodding and fussing quite stressful. That is why you should give yourself a few minutes alone to calm down. Sit in a room by yourself and read a book, listen to music, or write in your journal. Your wedding day might be the best day of your life, but it’s incredibly overwhelming too. Allowing yourself some time to take your mind off it can be quite relaxing.

Ignore The Small Stuff

Weddings very rarely go exactly to plan. Sometimes, you fall behind schedule, other times, you lose the guest book, and occasionally guests get into drunken fights. These problems are frustrating, but they won’t ruin your day unless you allow them to. You mustn’t sweat the small stuff and should instead focus on enjoying yourself. Try not to focus on the details of your big day. After all, the many years of marriage ahead of you are so much more important.

Every bride feels nervous on her wedding day, but you can banish these jitters with the advice above.
