If you need money quickly, there are a few good ways to get an injection of cash. Unfortunately, there are also a lot of really bad ways to try to earn money quickly, because they come with a lot of risk or potential debt. Get-rich-quick schemes are often far too good to be true, and have a catch that makes them either risky or less profitable than you might think.

But you can still earn money quickly, which can cover surprise expenses or help you save up for something big. Here are a few safe ways to earn a bit of extra cash.

Sell Excess Stuff

One of the easiest ways to earn money quickly is to just sell the things you own that you don’t need anymore. We accumulate so much stuff over time, and most of the time, we’re upgrading tech and buying new things to replace older devices that work perfectly well.

Using a “sell my phone” service is a fantastic way to quickly and easily sell tech you don’t need anymore and you can earn some quick cash in the process. Just make sure that you’ve saved everything you want from the old devices and then restored them to factory settings. This is safer for your privacy, and your old device might run better.

You can also sell old clothes that don’t fit or that you don’t like anymore, jewelry, furniture, or anything else that you don’t want but that’s in good condition.

Online Surveys and Paid Tasks

If you have a bit of spare time and want a really easy and relatively reliable way to make money, online surveys could be an ideal option. True, you’re never going to earn a massive amount of money by doing surveys, and you often end up earning less than minimum wage for your time, but surveys are extremely simple.

You can sit in front of the television or listen to music and do a few surveys while you’re relaxing. This will add a small stream of income whenever you do it, and the pennies do turn into pounds that can lessen your financial load.

You can also do other small paid tasks online, such as quick data entry or transcription jobs. These can earn a bit more money without being too difficult or stressful.

Start a Side Hustle

The riskiest option on this list is also the option that has the potential to earn the most money. There are a lot of potential side hustles that you can start with very little financial investment. If you’ve got a hobby or skill like writing or graphic design, you already have a leg up because you can sell your services to others.

Generally, it’s important to be able to separate your hobbies from your work life, but this can be an interesting way to earn some extra money while using skills and equipment you already have. Just bear in mind that, if you want to grow your side hustle into a business, you might start to lose some of the fun of the hobby you’re monetising.
