Booking Our Next Holiday Abroad

I’ve mentioned before that we are drastically trying to pay down any debt and be as debt free as we possibly can by the end of 2016. So far we are doing quite well with this aim and it has got us to thinking – once debt free, what would we like to do? First thing that cropped up in both mine and Steve’s minds was a holiday, probably in Europe as we won’t want to spend too much.

But where to go? We’ve been to Rome and I’ve been to Paris but there is so many places we want to visit across Europe. I would love to visit Iceland or Spain, Steve would like to travel to a number of different places and of course, they need to be child friendly too as we’ll have Jack.

There is so much we will need to think about too – travel insurance as I no longer get it free with my bank account, Steve needs to renew his passport, finding the best exchange rate when it comes to our spending money, making sure Jack will be kept amused. I know where Jack is keen to go – somewhere which starts with the word Disney – and whilst it is definitely somewhere we want to visit in the future, its not currently on the list for our next foreign holiday.

Europe is such an amazing continent with so many different countries rich in cultural heritage and family friendly places to stay. Its tough to know where to go and we are really struggling to pick! Of course, this won’t be happening until 2017 but having a goal in mind is more likely to push us towards being completely debt free as soon as we possibly can. Whilst becoming debt free is a goal in itself, having that extra motivation can often help.

At the moment, we are mostly debating between southern Italy, Spain and Iceland – but I’m not sure which one to pick? Have you been to any of these places? Which would you recommend?

  1. Is recommending the Greek Islands throwing a spanner in the works? Everything is so cheap when you get there too!
