We all know that I am a bit of a bookworm but I’m not too sure that many of you know what my favourite genre is – or in fact, who my favourite author is. In this article, we English are described as morbid for enjoying a good old murder mystery but I think that’s a little harsh. In fact, I believe that we are all actually rather inquisitive and love being in the right – and a good murder mystery definitely appeases our questioning minds.
I have a confession to make, or rather a few. I am a die-hard Agatha Christie fan. I have not all, but the majority of her books, a couple of books under her pen name, her autobiography and various books about her life. You can also find me glued to the TV whenever a new Poirot or Marple is shown too. I have only mentioned this slight obsession in passing before, but I felt it deserved a post all of its own as murder mysteries are a big passion of mine.
From a young age, there were two things I wanted to be: an author and/or a criminologist. Can you guess where my ambition for these stemmed from? Some of my family think it is weird that I like to read mysteries, watch them on TV and even watch true crime cases but they happen to pique my interest. My bookshelves are filled with whodunnits by various authors, my V+ full with murder dramas and my interest in the subject every increases.
What is your favourite genre of book?
Lately I've been loving Jean Plaidy books, but I like chick lit, mysteries, whatever Oprah recommends…pretty much anything!

I do have a fondness for inter-war novels (pretty much anything published by Persephone Books basically!) but I read anything and everything except misery memoirs. The crime bookcase is absolutely chockablock with books but then I did do a criminology degree!

That's quite interesting. I used to talk to someone online who just used to be an Agatha Christie fanatic; we lost contact ages ago.
My favourite kind of book is a fantasy/family comedy thing, either that or real life experiences – depending on what kind. It has to be written well though, I'm not just going to dive into any old book in those categories, just because it's got a certain character or creature in it. With books, I'm rather hard to please I'm afraid.

I love a good crime book. Try richard montinaris rosary girls. It kept me guessing who done it right till the end. And everytime i read it i still dont see it coming!

I'm a crime addict too! I dabble in children's books (harry potter, percy jackson etc) and the odd chick lit but I'm a true crime afficiando! I love James Patterson's women's murder club, Kathy reichs bones and lynda la plante as well as many others! I actually haven't read many agatha cristies although I've seen the tv versions loads!

I can't pick a favourite genre of book, it's too hard! I do like a bit of crime though – at the moment I am reading the Jack Reacher books by Lee Child, they aren't very realistic, but they are good fun. The equivalent of seeing a big blockbuster at the cinema! I also really like Sophie Hannah's books, if you haven't read them you should check them out. The first one is called Little Face.
I do love a bit of Agatha Christie too. My mum used to love watching Miss Marple on the telly (with Joan Hickson), and the films with Margaret Rutherford. I'm more of a Poirot fan, though it was only a couple of years ago that I read my first Poirot novel, and I adored it! I'm trying to make my way through them all, but I've had a bit of a break in recent months. It's time to get back on them I think!

The only time I really read a book is before I go to sleep. By that point my brain is all but mush from a day at work followed by 2 crazy kids so my usual choice of book is light hearted and easy to read. Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic series being my faves. I'm reading a Marion Keyes at the mo. I used to love horror books as a teen but I've never read anything like that since!
