Yes, that’s right. Instead of Meal Planning Monday, today you get Meal Planning Mayhem…
I was doing so well.
I was using things up, eating healthier meals and generally making much yummier meals. Last week though, everything went out of the window. Having veered off the meal plan towards the end of the previous week, I hadn’t yet made a plan when it came to last Monday and with myΒ Paris tripΒ on the horizon, I didn’t know who was going to be at home and when. As it turned out, Steve worked nights half of last week, went out for darts the next evening and then I went to Paris. So meal planning took a backseat for that week.
Now it is Monday and I yet again don’t have a meal plan. I got back yesterday evening and fell into bed not much later. I haven’t looked to see what we have in the freezer, let alone taken anything out for meals for this week. Steve is on nights again from tomorrow so that puts me off kilter too – we normally have free days where we choose what we want on those days (I like most things but Jack can be ever so fussy). I know what we are having tonight – pasta bake!
Do you ever find yourself feeling like this when it comes to your meal plan? I seem to have lost my meal planning mojo – my head is blank as to what I should put on the plan for this week let alone thinking of meals to make as I go along. Perhaps I should just muddle on through this week and start afresh next weekend – meal planning had been really working for us until last week and was good for both our budget and our waistlines.
What’s on your meal plan this week?

Ah the meal plan! I always have such good intentions to stick to a meal plan and be healthy and frugal… Then something in the supermarket catches my eye… Or we ‘need’ to go out for food. We’ve all been there!
Nothing worse than things not quite going to plan to throw you off of a meal plan for the week.
I feel awful but I don’t meal plan AT ALL. I really should, especially as I’ve just started getting into my slow cooker. There are loads of ideas on Pinterest for freezing all the ingredients for the week and then your main meal for the day is sorted. In fact, you’ve inspired me. I’m going to do this!
Aww your always allowed the odd week off and Paris is such a good reason π x
I think sometimes you just have to go with the life flow and be a little flexible. Meal plans are great when you know what’s coming up and everyone’s around so don’t give up π
This is why meal planning doesn’t agree with me ; in principle it sounds like a great idea, but in reality it takes me ages and I don’t have time for it – although wish I did!
I keep meaning to meal plan hoping that it will make my working life easier, I just don’t seem to get around to it, good luck next week x
I have tried doing a meal plan before but it never really works!
I meal plan about 3.30pm everyday but then there is just me and the mister x
I start well but as the week goes on and my energy levels decrease the meal plan goes out the window and what’s easiest is the meal of the day.
I make very flexible meal plans, in as much as I make a list of meals and make sure I have the right ingredients in the house, routines change from day to day so I don’t decide what day we will have each meal but I make sure there are a few quick and easy meals for the day we’re all in a rush! I’m sure you’ll get back into the swing of your meal plan soon xxx
I never meal plan…..it’s pointless in my house. However, I do buy meat or fish to cover for four to five nights, then this also covers lunch (leftovers) or spread out the meat to make more meals … Is ….. Roast a chicken, as this can be two to three nights dinner. Sorted.
I try each week to have a meal plan but I don’t stick to it a lot of the time. I keep writing one though!
yeah quite a lot! i try an plan ahead as i know its better for my purse, wasitline and sanity but there are times I just look at what i’ve planned and think nah don’t fancy that and end up – always with pasta lol
I don’t meal plan but last week was a nightmare for me since I was feeling a bit under the weather. Thankfully I will be able to get back to making healthy choices now that I’m starting to feel better.
I never plan meals and I wish I did. I just come home and eat loads of junk because I’m not sure what I want to cook
This is me each week! My good intentions never quite make it to actions. Don’t be down on yourself, you’ve done well so far. Get back on to it when you’re good and ready xx
The good thing about meal plans is that you have everything organized for the week and do not have to stress about what to cook for dinner. I always find that preparation is key!
Life is so much better when you stick to a meal plan isn’t it!
Don’t let one off day get you down. Just regroup and start afresh tomorrow. Meal plans work on so many levels, I’ve started using them and noticing a big difference.
I never have a meal plan – pasta bake is my foolproof back up too! or McDonalds π Kaz x
Meal planning does seem like such a great idea, but I wonder if it’s worth having a few back up meals that are quick and easy to prepare for these times when things get thrown off course. I don’t know what they are but there must be some out there
It’s okay not to follow a meal plan especially if you’ve had a busy week. You can start a fresh next week and look forward to it π I really need to get back into meal planning again x
Every time I see someone talking about meal plans it makes me feel a bit guilty, and I vow to start using them myself. Then I forget again. x
I never can stick to my meal plan! Whatever i plan I end up buying take away! I have been so rubbish with that its unreal!
