Wedding Planning Wednesday | 017

Wedding planning has had to be put on the back burner again. It is incredibly difficult to save for a wedding when we are constantly hit by obstacles in our path, stopping us from having our dream day. We owe money to some family and friends which hopefully should be getting resolved in the next couple of weeks…I hope – and then the whole redundancy thing gets thrown in my face. I am trying to be positive and look at it in a good light, at least then I can actually do something with my life that I actually want to do rather than be stuck in a menial customer services job that I only enjoy because of my colleagues and a select few customers!

It doesn’t help that I am constantly seeing new things that I then decide I want at my wedding and knowing that I probably won’t get them. I am trying every which way to save even the smallest amount for this wedding but the pot doesn’t seem to be growing any bigger.

I’m sorry for such a depressing post, it is just a nightmare trying to arrange the perfect day with less than perfect situations going on around us.

How did you save or how are you saving for your wedding?

  1. oh no 🙁
A BIG money saving tip is find somewhere that will let you supply your own alcohol (preferably without charging corkage, will let you do all decoration yourself (i can help with the actual doing if you want) and keep it small.

Alternatively a lot of venues do cheapish deals – we got our venue for £5000 with 80 day guests, a buffet for 100 (so that allows for 120 or 130 people at the evening), chair covers and DJ and our room for the night.

I have seen similar deals for quite a bit cheaper, especially if you have less guests (we've got 90 for the day now… fortunately 8 are children so only £11 a head for the meal.

Let me know if theres anything I can help with!!!

  3. Aw no sorry to hear about the Redundancy and lack of funds 🙁
    Weddings are so expensive.
We were lucky because our mortgage went onto basic rate & our monthly payments went down by £300, if it wasn't for that ours wouldn't have happened,. x

I know how you feel, but I'm sure the pot will grow one day (hopefully sooner rather than later!!) xo

  5. We're planning on doing the same, roping in family & friends to help, although we've only recently discussed it! I'm always here to lend a hand 🙂 redundancy is bittersweet but I hope it all works out for you xo
