Girls Night In

This is a sponsored post – all opinions are my own

Since becoming a mum, I love nothing more than a girls night in. Nights out with the girls are no longer what they used to be – drinks are so much more expensive, the atmosphere is just not the same and why would you want to spend your night getting harassed by drunk guys when you can have a much more fun night in with the girls, a bottle of bubbly,  a takeaway and a good film?

It seems I am not alone in this. Ladbrokes Bingo recently did a survey to see what women thought about nights out vs nights in. In every area surveyed, the majority preferred to stay in with 85.71% of Wrexham’s ladies preferring a night in on the sofa rather than one on the tiles! It seems that even for those that don’t have children, nights out just don’t hold the same appeal as they did a couple of years ago.
I’ve spoken at length about my preference for a night in front of the telly – not least because my friendship circles seem to have changed in the past couple of years . People have moved away and some have simply stopped answering my calls and texts. Why would I want to go on a night out if I no longer spend time with those people who made those nights great?
I think that there are a variety of reasons why people prefer to stay in – the cost is so much cheaper, they know they are safe and secure in their own home plus they don’t need to worry about any slight embarrassments as they are with the people that know them best! I know that I am much more self conscious of my body since becoming a mum and if I am going on a night out, I constantly worry about what could happen. I do occasionally have a good night out without any hitches and it is nice to treat yourself every now and again but believe me, most of the time I’d rather pig out on the sofa with the girls – I couldn’t imagine anything better.

  1. I love a good night in. I have to agree the whole idea of going out is very different to a few years ago. It is so expensive just to go to the cinema now, I can't imagine the prices of clubs and drinks. (I think I'm getting old!)

  2. I had a lovely time last Saturday night with my friends. We all brought a dish and sat around the table all night laughing lots! x
