The Best Cleaning Products for a Sparkling Home

Collaborative Post with Cleaning Express

Keeping your home clean and fresh is mostly down to your effort as the cleaner. However, you still need some decent products to make the job as easy as possible. And that’s exactly what we’ll discuss here and cleaners Romford.

This article looks at the best cleaning products for your home. Bear in mind, it won’t list product suggestions because everyone has different tastes and budgets. Instead, it’ll provide categories that you should include in your cleaning arsenal.

The Best Cleaning Products for a Sparkling Home

1. All-Purpose Cleaner

Let’s get this out of the way: you don’t need dedicated products for the kitchen, bathroom, and so on. Generally, a decent all-purpose cleaning spray will be enough. The goal is to remove marks from surfaces, as you can prevent bacteria growth simply by keeping things clean and dry.

2. Glass Cleaner

Glass and mirror cleaner is another essential product. Luckily, white vinegar will do the job. In fact, most commercial glass cleaners are just vinegar with some extra ingredients. So, save yourself some money by buying distilled white vinegar in bulk and then just decanting it into a spray bottle for cleaning.

3. Microfibre Cloths

Microfibre cloths are the holy grail of cleaning cloths. Importantly, they don’t shed, and they can be used as dusters, mirror cleaners, dishcloths, and more! Plus you can wash and reuse them as often as you need, which gives you a great return on your investment.

4. Bar Keeper’s Friend

While this list isn’t going to include specific product recommendations, Bar Keeper’s Friend is an exception. The standard cream cleaner can be used on a lot of surfaces but it’s best on metal. You can use it on stained pots, copper, steel, and loads of other surfaces. The range includes a powder, a spray, and a cream cleaner, but you’ll only need one type.

5. Drain Unblocking Tool

There are loads of drain cleaning products on the market. However, the best thing you can own is a physical tool, such as a drain coil. This will physically push blockages out of drains rather than melt them. More than anything, using a drain coil will protect your pipes, as a lot of the liquids are (understandably) quite caustic.

6. Bicarbonate of Soda

Like white vinegar, bicarb is one of those miracle cleaning products. You can use it as a degreaser, an abrasive, an odour eliminator, and more. Pour it down a drain to deal with any smells, or sprinkle it on the carpet and hoover it up. It can tackle loads of jobs around the home, and you can buy a big tub of it online for relatively little money.

Bear in mind, that you should ignore any tips that recommend mixing it with vinegar to deal with blockages or similar. This doesn’t actually do anything, as the bicarb and vinegar react to create CO2 and water, which doesn’t help solve any problems.

7. Traditional Mop

The cleaning market is full of swiffers, spray-and-wipe mops, and loads of similar options. However, none of these are as effective as an old-school mop and bucket. A traditional mop head gives great flexibility between the amount of water you use and the level of scrubbing you can do.

Also, you won’t usually have to worry about getting floor cleaning products. Unless you have untreated stone, washing up liquid and a slosh of white vinegar will do the job fine.

8. A Range of Scrubbing Brushes

Scrubbing brushes can tackle a wide range of jobs, from deep cleaning flooring to washing grout or cleaning the sink. As such, you’ll probably want a couple of different sizes and bristle textures. That said, an old toothbrush is a decent option for cleaning grout!

9. Squeegee

A squeegee is a useful tool for when you clean windows or other glass. You won’t need it for a spray and wipe but rather for when you do a proper wash. It’ll deal with excess water far better than a cloth and is less likely to leave streaks because you’re scraping the water off rather than absorbing it.

Similarly, if you have a shower door or glass panel, keep the squeegee in the shower to wipe it down after every use. It’ll massively cut down on the cleaning you need to do.

Final Thoughts

This list of products should cover pretty much any cleaning job around your home. Remember there are eco-friendly versions of things like cleaning spray, so shop around to find the perfect products.
