The Best Places To Find Out About Jobs

It can be tough to know where to look for jobs when you are desperately searching for one. I know I always struggle to remember where is good to look but I wanted to share some ideas today – places you can look when you are looking for your next role.

Specialist Platforms

If you know the specific career field you are looking to go into, then a specialist platform may be the best choice for you. Websites such as this teaching assistant agency are a great place to look when looking for a specific role in education. There are many specialist recruitment websites out there so if you know your preferred industry, a quick internet search should flag some up for you.

Social Media

Social media can be horrible for many reasons but it can often be a great place to find jobs too. I always tend to keep an eye out on local Facebook groups or local based hashtags on Instagram or Twitter to see what roles are being advertised. You might find that your area even has job specific groups on Facebook so be sure to join them to keep yourself regularly updated.

Non Specialist Platforms

There are many specialist platforms but there are also plenty of non specialist platforms which list jobs from a variety of industries. There are a few that are household names but there are quite a few smaller ones out there too. Even if you only have an idea of location and how far you’d be willing to travel, you will be able to find a selection of jobs to look through.

Business Windows

You may not think that businesses still advertise the jobs they have going in their windows but many still do – especially businesses like shops! These will often be part time roles with the hours advertised but can be a great little job to do whilst looking for something more suited to you.

Word Of Mouth

Many of my jobs were got through word of mouth. My first I got because my mum happened to speak to the shop manager about something and he mentioned he had jobs going. The second, I knew the guy taking over the pub and another of my friends had already taken on a role there. The third? The boss and a supervisor were both from my home village and I basically walked into the interview to be told I already had the job, haha! Word of mouth is incredibly powerful and you should never dismiss it – especially when you are trying to find out about something important such as jobs!
