With a history of sensitive skin in our family, it has taken us an age to find a product that really suits our family. Once Jack came along, that was of the utmost importance and we tried many out to see what suited our family best. Over the past couple of years, my washing pile has exploded as we’ve gone from two adults to two adults with a newborn baby who has slowly turned into a baby then a toddler, making a lot of mess along the way.
As soon as I found out we were expecting Jack, I started panicking. What clothes should I buy? What things did we need? If I bought something, would he actually use it? You hear so many stories about people buying absolutely everything for a new baby and using just a handful of things. What would I wash his clothes in?
After all, babies skin is very sensitive and if Jack was to be anything like the rest of his family, his would be even more so. Being one of the first in my group of friends to have a baby did little to allay my fears as I didn’t really have anyone to talk to.
We muddled through though and it was so worth it when I got to hold my baby after those 9 months. The worries seemed to drift away, at least for a while. As a mum, I try to make sure he is happy, healthy and protected but as you can imagine, he is a very boisterous little boy and often gets himself into little scrapes. Of course I worry but as long as I know he is happy, healthy and protected from all the bad things in the world, I can relax.
Persil and Comfort Care have been our products of choice for quite some time now. Unlike other ranges of detergents and fabric conditioners, these don’t seem to cause any irritability and are a staple product in our household, often stocking up when there are deals on. We often pick up the Persil Non Bio 25w or the Comfort Pure 42w when we go shopping and picked some up recently for the #CollectiveBias campaign from our local Asda – my Dad may have dragged me in to help him get started on Jack’s birthday and Christmas presents in their little sale!
My washing pile seems never ending as you can see above but using the best products when washing is incredibly important to me. Why risk hurting your child’s skin when you have a tried and tested product that you know works and is fine with them? The leading charity in maternal and fetal research, they now have three research centres across the country, dedicated to researching all the different issues relating to pregnancy. Whilst I have no personal ties to the charity, plenty of my family and friends have suffered either miscarriage, prematurity or stillbirth and I know how tough it has been on them so I wholeheartedly support any charity that supports them in their time of need.
