I don’t often get time to relax – working from home, two kids and five pets sees to that. However I do think it is important to find some time to relax where you can and I have a few things I like to do to help me relax. Taking the time to figure out the relaxation techniques for you is absolutely worth it! Here are 5 ways I relax at home – how about you?
Reading
From the numerous book reviews on this site, you can probably guess that I like to read. My preferred genre is murder mysteries/thrillers but I do love the odd piece of chick lit too! I can always be found with either a book in my hand or my Kindle and I have recently beaten my reading challenge for the entire year, thanks to a few months of reading non stop!
Murder Mysteries
I’ve mentioned many times before that since the pandemic began, we have been doing virtual murder mysteries and have been doing them at least once a month recently. It is a lot of fun sitting down together and going through the clues, watching the videos and having discussions to try and work out who is the culprit. We have managed to get it right a few times now – sometimes through deduction and sometimes through sheer luck too!

Playing Online Games
I’ve always loved playing games online – I used to play all the games that came as standard on my computer when I was younger such as Solitaire and Minesweeper and soon branched out into playing other types of games too. I remember my neighbour giving me a CD-ROM of games and I used to spend so much time playing them!
My favourite types of games are escape games, maze games and sometimes even logic puzzles and I have been enjoying playing a few on Plays.org. I love to take some time of an evening and check out the newest added games – with 100+ to choose from, I can always find sometime to spend some time on. One of my favourites right now is the 2 Minutes to Escape game – it is a bit of a challenge but a lot of fun!
Movie Nights
I love nothing more than relaxing with the kids and Steve and watching a film together. We are always seeing what has been added recently to Netflix or Disney+ but often find ourselves opting for old favourites too.
I have lost count of the amount of times I have watched Frozen, Moana and Aladdin now but if it keeps the kids happy and gives me some time to relax then I am more than happy to oblige!
A Pamper Night
Lastly I love a good pamper night – jumping in the bath with a bath bomb and a good book. Who doesn’t? Once the kids are in bed and Steve is watching golf on the telly, I love nothing more than jumping into the bath and just chilling out for an hour or so. The only problem is sometimes I end up falling asleep too!
These are just a few of the ways I relax at home when I get the opportunity to. Do you have any specific ways that you relax at home?

I totally relate to the murder mystery games, they’re such a great way to relax and challenge my brain. It’s amazing how you can combine fun with a bit of deduction.

It’s great that you’ve included reading as a relaxation method – it’s something I also find incredibly soothing. I’ve heard of virtual murder mysteries before, sounds like a fun way to relax with family.
