3 Ways to Discover a New You After Lockdown

Collaborative Post

It’s been a long year, hasn’t it?

And if you’re feeling totally changed by lockdown – well, you’re not the only one.

Now that we’re faced with freedom, many of us are finding ourselves with new priorities, new ambitions and new dreams going forward into the second half of 2021, shaking off our old routines and finally living our best lives.

If you’re looking for that single secret to self-actualisation, the magic combo that will unlock your true purpose like the wave of a fairy godmother’s wand, you may be looking for the wrong things. It won’t happen overnight, but through a process of trial and error that pushes the boundaries of our comfort zone, we’ll truly be able to make the most not just of our newfound freedom but of ourselves too.

With that in mind, these are just three ways to breathe life in our hopes and dreams and let them take flight in a brighter future.

  1. Learn something new

Are you itching to unlock your potential? Do you dream of discovering a hidden talent or secret skill you never new you were good at? Perhaps even learn a new discipline and get ahead in your career?

Now may be the perfect time to do just that.

There are many ways to learn a new skill, whether you’re taking evening classes somewhere local or taking an online degree with ARU Distance Learning – these opportunities are not only great for our personal development, they also boost our self esteem and offer us a fulfilling way to spend our time.

  1. Switch up your style

Is your wardrobe feeling a little tired? Maybe you’ve got a few outfits that don’t fit quite like they used to. Or perhaps your style has simply changed after months at home in your cosiest pyjamas.

A word of advice – throw out those old clothes. Pack them off to the charity shop, or better yet sell them on eBay to fund a new collection that better reflects your tastes.

If you’re seeking a new look for nights out, crop tops, sheers and cut-outs are set to be all the rage this summer, whilst those looking to switch up their office attire might want to invest in sleek separates for smart yet wearable workplace comfort.

  1. Find a new routine

With pubs and shops opening again, find new ways to fit the everyday experiences you love into your daily routine, whether it’s meeting with friends on a Friday after work or treating yourself to a quick outing on your lunch break

Call it ‘self-care’ – filling your days with activities you will truly enjoy and say goodbye to the old habit of letting your free time pass you by. Finding little ways to brighten each day and milestones to look forward to will ease the weight of everyday stresses from your shoulders and help you make the most of every moment.

These are just three simple ways to switch up your old life after lockdown and discover new experiences that will unlock a new you.

I’m starting to find my feet with new routines ATM. Its stressful already thinking about coming out of lockdown, so trying to be gentle with myself and ease into it! not easy, though…

I do want parts of my life to change but I’m still trying to figure out how exactly, it really does feel like its time for some changes. Mich x

  3. It surely has been a long and routined year and a change does seem like a great idea. I am hoping to head to the pub with some friends once things open up again and get some clothes shopping done

  4. It has been a very long and strange year, I have been updating my wardrobe with birthday money but they are all summer clothes so waiting for the warmer weather to appear

Finding a new routine is something I need to work on, esp when I do start going back into the office for work. Thankfully it should only be 1-2 times a week but it’s going to mean leaving the house much earlier so I want to get into that routine before I start going back in x

  6. This is a great post, because so many of us are struggling to find our groove right now! I’m definitely still trying to get into a routine that works and finding a good outlet for myself away from family.
