Lollibop 2014

A couple of weeks ago, we were kindly given the opportunity to go to Lollibop 2014. Lollibop was held at Hatfield House which is just a short way away from where I live. Since Steve couldn’t get the day off, my mum came with me and Jack to see what all the fuss was about! Whilst there, it was nice to see some fellow bloggers – some who were blogging about the event and others who had won tickets.

We took the bus to get to Lollibop but others travelled in by car. I did see a few posts on Facebook complaining about the car parking so I am glad we travelled in another way.

We spent the first few minutes wandering around the site to see what was around but soon noticed people sitting down on benches close to the big stage. There were still plenty of spaces so we grabbed a bench and sat down to see what show was coming up.
Jack was ecstatic when he saw CBeebies presenters Andy and Alex on stage – he is a big fan of both but especially Andy – and clapped and hollered along with all the other children. I don’t think he realised they were just warming up for the big act due to come out – Mister Maker! I also didn’t realise that I had a BGT finalist sitting in front of me – that head with the light brown hair belongs to one of the members of Jack Pack – I kept saying to my mum that I recognised him!

The show Mister Maker put on was great – making four little makes in a short period of time. Jack particularly liked it when the shapes did their song on the big screen, he’s been talking about it ever since. We also saw Mister Maker on stage later, doing exactly the same show. Whilst I think it is great that they did this so more people can see it – I am sure the majority of people attended the first so had seen it all before. But children don’t really care, do they?

Next to the big stage was a meet and greet tent and we had seen queues constantly so took our chance when we saw a queue starting to form for the next meet and greet. Luckily, our chance paid off as it was Postman Pat, another of Jack’s favourite characters – he is actually convinced that our very own postman is Pat!

He was eager to get his picture taken with Pat but got a little shy right at the end so I had to pick him up – thus I look awful and he’s as happy as larry!

After our meet and greet, we decided to spend some time browsing around and getting some food. Myself and Jack shared some tasty chicken nuggets and chips whilst my mum treated herself to a gluten free paella. She was very impressed at the range of allergy free food available – and I must admit, the paella was pretty tasty!

There were so many stands to choose from, I was slightly overwhelmed by all the choice!

Even if he did run away from the Fat Controller, one character I couldn’t keep him away from was Thomas and we finally gave in and let him see him. He waited in the queue patiently and watched as plenty of children got upset because they had to wait – the queue was massive! After having his photo taken inside the carriage, we took some photos at the front too – I have so many!

If I’d had the money, I would definitely have bought Jack a few pieces from River Island – they had some gorgeous stuff! There was plenty to see and do in all parts of the field and we even entered some competitions whilst we were there!

Jack was spoilt by my Mum whilst he was there and came away with a multitude of things – a new bag, colouring pads and so much more. I was very impressed with the amount of stands available, offering a variety of different things. I also picked up a few things which I have put away for his birthday and Christmas.
