Collaborative Post

With the new year approaching you might be thinking about what your new year resolutions should be. We have listed some ideas below on how you can make 2021 a great year with achievable goals.

1. Be More Active

This is a common new year resolution, to get healthy and be more active. Being active is not only good for weight loss but is great for your mental health. Whether it is a 10 minutes brisk walk around the park each day or an hour at the gym, getting your body moving is all you need to do. Set yourself some goals to aim for, maybe book in a 10k race or a note of how many pounds you would like to lose. Make sure your goals are healthy and achievable.

2. Get Organized

Write a little plan for next year and where you want to be in life at different stages of the year. Maybe you want to start a new career or be promoted in your current one, give yourself a time limit to achieve these goals. Being organized with your goals gives them structure and a well thought out plan will make your goals more achievable.

3. Learn A New Skill Or Hobby

Maybe you have always wanted to learn how to speak French or play the guitar. Whatever your interests are, we think next year is the year for you to get started and have fun in your new found hobby. If you don’t know where to start, find some local groups or head online and seek people who have the same interests as you, there are lots of forums online that we are sure you will be able to find one that suits you.

4. Open A Savings Account

It has been a difficult year for us all, especially financially. Now is a good time to think about opening a savings account. Set yourself a budget and aim to put the same amount away each month. You never know when the money might come in handy, maybe you need a new car or you are saving up for a home or even just for a rainy day.

5. Quit Bad Habits

Another common new year’s resolution people have is to give up bad habits. This could be giving up junk food, alcohol or smoking, you don’t have to go cold turkey from day to day, there are ways to help you ease into it slowly into breaking habits. If you are struggling with addiction there are many support groups you can attend. For smoking, think about trying nicotine patches or vapes, there many types of Vape juice that can help you in your journey.

6, Spend More Time With Family And Friends

This year we have been separated from loved ones to keep us all safe and although we know this is the right thing to do it can still be hard on us emotionally. We think that this year has really shown us who and what is important in our lives and the love we have for our family and friends. So next year we think one of your resolutions should be to see your family and friends more often. Hopefully we will see restrictions ease and we can get back to ‘normal’ life, giving us more opportunity to spend time with our loved ones.

7. Explore The World

When the world re-opens, we think it would be great to explore different cultures and a change of scenery. The world is a big place and there are so many countries to tick off your bucket list. You don’t need to go mad booking a around the world trip, but plan a weekend city break or a week in the sun.

8. Read A Book

In our many lockdowns we have all probably completed Netflix, Amazon Prime and tv catch-up. It puts a lot of strain on our eyes looking at digital screens all day, so go ‘old school’ and read a book. It is good for our brains to read and allows our imagination to run free and our knowledge to expand. Make it your goal to read more in 2021, whether it’s just one book or 12 books the limit is up to you.

9. Be Kind

A great new year’s resolution is to be more kind, it could be towards yourself or others. Being kind is free and can make a huge difference in somebody’s life as well as making us feel good about ourselves.
