Life In A Lockdown {Linky} – Week 23

Yep, it is Tuesday again which means it is once again time for our Life In A Lockdown linky! Once again thanks go to Jenni from Lyrical Host for inspiring it and Sarah for creating it and inviting me along for the ride!

It is so simple to get involved. All we ask is that you give both Sarah and I a link back in your post, letting others know where to find the link-up. Then once it is live, all you need to do is pop over to mine or Sarah’s blog and pop your link in the InLinkz at the bottom so we can visit it and leave you a comment!

So what are my answers for this week??

1) How are you feeling/coping?

Well, isn’t that the question? I’m feeling okay today as of writing this but the past few days have been tough. A member of the household tested positive for Coronavirus on Saturday so we are quarantined until Saturday the 19th of September. I am okay with that for myself but Jack had been back at school for only two days and Olivia was meant to have her thirty minute visit with me at nursery yesterday, her one hour visit on her own on Thursday and start next Monday doing 3 hours in the morning, Monday to Friday. Now she will be starting a whole week later than everyone else and misses out on those settling in sessions.

Thankfully Olivia is a confident and bright little girl and I don’t think it will phase her in the slightest but I won’t lie, I’m a little bit heartbroken for my kids at having to miss out on even more when they’ve missed out on enough. Jack was also meant to start at the childminders today but obviously cannot. I offered to pay for the two sessions he is missing but she has waived the fees due to the situation.

2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?

The first half of those, sorting stuff for the kids going back to school, working and doing school runs. The second half, quarantining and eating my body weight in bad foods. I’ve also picked up some things for the kids birthday presents and Christmas presents, such as this National Geographic kit.

3) What are your priorities at the moment, have you changed what you will / won’t go out for?

Yep – I can’t go out for anything so I’d definitely say so!

4) Have you found anywhere doing a really good job of catering to social distancing?

Nope! Although Jack’s school is really working hard with their one way system and the procedures they have put in place.

5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.

Just books and stuff! Nothing too interesting!

6) How has your routine been this week?

It was perfect at the beginning of the week – now it is all over the place again.

7) What have you learnt over lockdown (this doesn’t have to be a skill, it could be about yourself, your family, or something else).

That I know who I can count on.

8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?

My friends for keeping me sane – those who are nearby for dropping stuff to my house, those who aren’t for keeping me occupied by chatting to me online and helping me with crazy ideas I have!
So that was my week – much more going on than normal even though I am doing much less than usual…how odd is that?

  1. Oh no what a nightmare, just as things return to some sort of normality. I hope everything is ok and that you an move on after the quarantine time

  2. I’m so sorry to hear about the positive result, I hope they are doing OK.

This just doesn’t seem to be going away does it?

Take care and stay safe x

  3. I can’t believe what’s going on for you at the moment 🙁 what a time when Jack had just started back and Olivia was starting nursery. I have my fingers tightly cross the rest of you all stay healthy.

Everything is so precarious isn’t it? Ieuan has started secondary school and this is his first full week but there have already been COVID cases in schools nearby. As you know, Caerphilly is in lockdown (about 20 minutes from us here in the Vale of Glamorgan) so who knows where will be next. The toll this is taking on the kids is worrying.

  6. So sorry to hear that, hopefully everyone is fine and as you said, I think think the delay with them starting school will phase them at all. Hopefully you have some good books to keep you company as you stay home.

Oh no. It can really thrown you when 1 person in the houshold gets it. I’m sure Olivia will be fine when she eventualy goes to nursery. That was nice of teh childminder to waive the fee.

I am so sorry to her about someone in your household testing positive for CoVid. I hope and pray that he/she recovers soon. My first cousin’s wife also tested positive for CoVid but is now recovered. What have I bought this week? I bought a mini Caladium plant. So pretty! And my sister gave me two orchid seedlings yesterday so I am over the moon with my new plant babies. 🙂

  9. How stressful that you have to isolate to close to them returning to school. It must be so frustrating, but hope you all stay COVID free

  10. Oh no, I’m sorry someone had a positive test. It seems to be everywhere at the moment and those numbers keep going up and up, stay safe.

  11. I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope you stay positive. I personally finding hard to cope with all news at the moment. It has been hard year for everyone. x

  12. Ah what a mare. Hopefully the rest of you stay Covid free and you can get back to normal very soon.
