My Review
This is not a genre I would usually pick up – I tend to opt for cosy mysteries, police procedurals or chick-lit but when I was approached by Rachel about giving this book a go, I thought why not? The synopsis seemed interesting and I wanted to see if this book could tempt me to the genre.
This book is the second in the series and having not read the first one, I wasn’t too sure if I’d be able to get stuck in but I needn’t have worried. At first it can be easy to get a little confused about who exactly is the monster – he is utterly convincing at first until Emma’s memories come flooding back and she realises exactly who she’s with.
I loved the characters of Chance and Andy especially with both having feelings for Emma and how they struggle with those feelings whilst battling to save her. You can see that there are plenty of people who care for Emma, who love her and will do anything for her but sometimes those battles need to be fought by the person themselves.
I grew to like Emma as the book continued – at first, I didn’t know too much about her having not read the first book but you soon get a glimpse into her life and how exactly she came to be in this situation. The ending left me wanting more and I will definitely be checking out the third instalment to see what’s happening!

T.L. Mahrt is a former business owner, where she utilized her education in cosmetology, barbering and massage therapy for several years. She was raised on and is currently living on a farm in Nebraska, where you can find her running barefoot in the country side with her loving husband and inspiring children and massive dogs.
After having her son, who was born with Cerebral Palsy, she made the life altering decision to stay home to care for her two children and pursue her love for writing. She has a love for romance and poetry where, her overactive imagination, along with her adventures and up beat lifestyle drives her inspiration for her writing.

Definitely not a genre I would usually go for either, but I like that you have it go and it sounds quite the read with Emma having to relive what must have been a traumatic time over again!

I wouldn’t usually go for this genre either, but the plot does sound intriguing. It’s great that you don’t have to worry not having read the first book in order to understand the second one.
I love books like this with a few twists and turns. Sounds like an intriguing plot that would be great for TV too
