Why I Would Love Solid Wood Flooring In My House

Collaborative Post

You may remember that I have recently moved and something I always said I wanted when I moved out of my old place was less carpeted areas, more solid wood flooring instead. We found the perfect house for us, plenty of space and a nice garden – but yet again everywhere is carpeted except for the kitchens and bathrooms!

Carpet can be such a nightmare especially with accident prone, clumsy kids like mine so I’ve already spent a lot of time rubbing and scrubbing to get stains out and hoovering constantly to pick up crumbs and fluff before they get embedded into the carpet.

I’ve got a few reasons why I would love solid wood flooring throughout my house and I thought I’d share them with you today.

Carpets Can Get So Grubby

Carpets can get so grubby with just adults living in a house let alone kids in a house too. Olivia is currently potty training, we have two pet rats who obviously run around when getting their daily exercise and we have a puppy coming home to us soon too. You can imagine how grubby the carpets can get and it can take a lot to maintain. Wood flooring would be so much easier to maintain.

Wood flooring is also much more hygienic than other types of flooring especially carpets where dust and parasites can harbour.

It Is Very Durable

When you consider the amount of wear and tear flooring gets in a household from the different people and pets constantly walking through, you definitely want something that will stand the test of time. Solid wood flooring is known for being fairly durable and is often recommended for rooms in a house that see a lot of footfall. Good quality solid wood flooring can last for decades!

It Looks Good

I always love it when I walk into someone’s house and see wood flooring – it just looks great and is super easy to clean and maintain which means it almost always looks fantastic, no matter what. You can get different colours and different finishes to find the perfect match for your home.

If scratched or worn, it can easily be brought back to as new with a little bit of TLC. Much less costly than having to replace a load of carpet or other types of flooring.

It Can Increase The Value Of A Home

Estate agents have actually said that homes with wood flooring sell twice as easily as homes with other types of flooring. It is a popular choice for a reason and it seems many people are looking for that type of flooring when buying a home. Why wouldn’t you want to increase the value of your home?

These are just a few reasons why I would love solid wood flooring in my home. We would actually consider buying this house if it ever came up for sale so maybe we can eventually get the flooring we would like!

  3. Wooden floors definitely are much easier all round when you have children and pets! The number of drinks that have been spilled over the years and mucky paw prints would have totally ruined a carpet in our lounge. I didn’t realise they add value so that’s always good to know! Sim x
