Its been fifteen years since my paternal grandmother died and around ten years since we nearly lost my maternal grandmother. With a large family such as mine, you get used to the morbid side of life pretty quick – after the first family death I experienced at the age of nine, a few more followed in quick succession.
However, it is still a struggle to think about my Nan – my beautiful, amazing Nan who is still with us today and fighting fit – lying in that bed seriously ill, all because of doctor and hospital negligence. Now my Nan. She’s not the type to kick up a fuss and would much rather sweep everything under the carpet but the fact remains that she almost died because of people not doing their job properly.
I’ve mentioned plenty of times how much my Nan means to me and that time was one of the darkest times of my life. One of the darkest times of my families lives in general. If she hadn’t pulled through, Jack would never have got to meet her, he wouldn’t know his ‘Big Nanny’ and life…well, it wouldn’t be like it is now.
After a slight scare a few weeks ago with my Nan, I thought we were heading down a similar path yet again. But this time we were prepared and could speak out if we thought things were being done wrong. I keep hearing all these horror stories and it makes me panic – I’ve had experience of it in the past in my family.. there are so many what if’s. We plan on adding to our family in the not too distant future – but these horror stories make me think twice – especially with the healthcare system round our area.
We need to look out for our family and speak out if we think people aren’t doing their jobs properly, even fully qualified professionals. You don’t know what could happen if you don’t.

The good thing is that companies like the affiliate one in this post are pushing healthcare professionals to continuously raise their standards. I believe that this is a good reason to trust or healthcare system more and more, safe in the knowledge that mistakes can no longer be swept under the carpet.x
Agreed!
