They say life begins at 40 and for some, that is definitely true. So many people get married young and stay together with their beaus until the very end but others get married and divorced whilst young and some don’t even find love until they are older.
Some people say that 40 is over the hill for finding love but I don’t agree with that. I know of plenty of people who’ve found the love of their life after the age of 40 and some who have just re-emerged onto the dating scene as they hit their 40th year.
Dating over a certain age can be a bit of a minefield sometimes but it can also be a lot easier than dating as someone a little younger. Someone of a more mature age knows what they want from life and they aren’t afraid to get it or afraid to tell people about it. As young ones, we are so keen to impress and please prospective partners that we often don’t really say the truth, don’t tell how we really feel. We often compromise when we don’t want to and end up regretting it and resenting the other person.
As a slightly older person, we don’t feel the need to please people as much – we know what we want from life and we want to get it at any cost. If you are looking to date someone and you are over the age of 40, perhaps consider joining up to an Edinburgh dating site, a Bedfordshire dating agency, a Cheshire dating site, a Merseyside dating site or a Belfast dating agency.
There are things to consider though. Your prospective partner may have family already even if you don’t so you have to be prepared to add kids into the equation if choosing to date after the age of 40. We don’t look like we did when we were 20 and we don’t feel like we did when we were that age too – so the people we date won’t either. You can’t expect someone to be as chiselled as they were twenty years or so ago. Our expectations are lower as well – we may know what we want but we’ve been through the mill and out the other side again – we know what to expect from relationships and know not to get our hopes up to high.
Dating after the age of 40 can certainly be fun but it is important to remember that it comes with a few conditions. If you’re okay with that, then go out and have lots of fun!
