Get Clearer Younger Looking Skin With These Lifestyle Habits

Collaborative Post

Everyone knows the saying, “You are what you eat.” It is such a cliché that people do not tend to take it seriously. However, while everyone is aware that food and lifestyle habits can affect his or her weight, little thought is given to how they affect the skin as well.

Many skin problems can be resolved or prevented by making simple changes and being more mindful of one’s overall health. Here are some easy and inexpensive ways anyone can transform her skin from dull to radiant.

Wear Sunscreen Daily

Sunscreen is crucial when it comes to maintaining a youthful appearance. Wrinkles and age spots creep up slowly; young adults do not have these problems yet, so they are not cognizant of the need to address them before they appear. By the time the signs of aging become evident, most of the damage has already been done. Young women need to take a step of faith and wear at least SPF 15, even if they do not think it is currently necessary.

Wear Moisturizer

Moisturizer and sunscreen go hand-in-hand. Using a lightweight moisturizer that contains SPF 15 or 30 accomplishes two goals in one easy step. Skin naturally dries out as it ages, and a moisturizer that helps it retain both water and oils will keep it plump and supple.

Drink Water

It is not necessary to force oneself to drink the recommended 64 ounces of water a day if it is uncomfortable or inconvenient. Drinking a tall glass of water after waking up, with lunch, and before bed is enough to trigger a dramatic change in the skin. Moisturizer infuses the skin with water from the outside, and drinking water plumps it from the inside.

Eat Vitamin-Rich Foods

The benefits of healthy fats are now widely known, but the benefits of vitamins are still largely under-reported. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that fights damaging free radicals that age the skin, and it also boosts the protection that sunscreen provides. Vitamin A is the active ingredient in retinol products for both acne and wrinkles, and consuming it pushes the skin to slough dead layers.

Sleep Well

Taking time for sleep is one of the best things anyone can do for her skin. Cleansing thoroughly and then giving the skin a full eight hours to heal allows for the repairing of tiny bits of damage before they become huge problems.
