Things I am looking forward to, post-pregnancy

The wonderful Hele over at Milkpetal recently published a superb post about the things she is looking forward to post pregnancy (you can read it here).
I thought that it was such a wonderful idea, I would post one too!
Of course, both Hele and myself love the feeling of being pregnant and having a little life growing inside of us, however as Hele quite rightly puts it – there are certain limitations to the stuff you can do whilst pregnant.
Here’s my list of things to look forward to:
  • Bonding with my son or daughter and also watching Steve bond with them
  • Not feeling so emotional all the time
  • Eating runny eggs – I can’t stand hard-boiled eggs and I seriously miss a good old fried breakfast!
  • Enjoying a small tipple at Christmas
  • Being able to bend down & pick things up instead of relying on others
  • Having a good nights sleep – I will be taking up the whole bed when I can! Although, I am of course aware I may not get a good nights sleep for years to come yet…
  • No or little heartburn – I had never suffered with it before the pregnancy, and I sincerely hope I don’t suffer afterwards. If I have to, can it be a little suffering instead of the whole hog, pretty please?
  • Eating seafood – It is said that you can eat some as long as you know it is cooked properly, but I’ve been avoiding it like the plague. For a proper seafood addict, this has been very hard!
  • Caffeine loaded drinks – I’m not a particularly big drinker of energy drinks, however now I can’t have them, I WANT THEM.
  • Having a proper pampering session with no discomfort – I have tried to pamper myself and relax, but the little bubba just doesn’t want to relax when I want to!
  • Being able to wear high heels again – I can’t wait! I feel really short in flats.
  • Nuts – I want a whole bowl full, please!
  • Pate – Only I could love all the things that you’re not allowed to eat during pregnancy – it’s been tough but worth it, though.
  • Steak and Kidney pudding – You’re advised against eating offal such as kidneys and since steak + kidney pudding is my FAVOURITE meal  – this was tough!
  • Being able to jog/run – Really annoys me, not being able to do this…even if you walk fast, people tell you off!
  • Buying gender specific baby clothes – This is probably the thing I am looking forward to the most. Not knowing the sex of our baby is nice for a surprise, but not very practical when shopping for it! Being able to go out and buy a cute little dress or a stylish little pair of shorts is going to be bliss!

Are you pregnant? What are you looking forward to, post-pregnancy?
Or have you already got children? What were you most looking forward to?

  1. Reading this list makes me panic, when you're pregnant do you get a list of the things you're not allowed to eat? Is that a stupid question? I'm worried as I didn't know 99% of the things on the list. x

  2. Hey hun,

Yeah there's certain things you're not allowed to eat, unfortunately. It's just because they don't know what kind of allergies your child may have until they're born, so they advise against eating certain things to minimise any risks there may be.

It most definitely isn't a silly question hun, a lot of people don't know until they get pregnant – for the first few weeks, I was eating the foods they advise you against, but luckily, you find things out along the way 🙂

    Hope this helps xo

  3. Etienne's Journal says:

Not long now! Have you got options for the name of your little darling? I've got to say, I find babies really exciting, but I can only imagine how hard these months have been for you. Well done, girl!

  4. You've done so well to not find out, I didn't want to but I broke at the scan!! Do you have an inkling? I really enjoyed being pregnant but I really looked forward to wearing normal clothes again, I had about 4 maternity items and I cycled them for the last 10 weeks when I stopped being able to squeeze into normal wear!x

  5. Etienne, we're thinking Jack for a boy and Elizabeth, Millie or Kiera for a little girl 🙂
    Thank you <3

Celia, I have a feeling that it's a boy but I'll be happy nonetheless. I've loved being pregnant for the most part – just the heartburn really gets to me! Yeah, I've decided that once the baby is a few weeks old, I shall have a little shopping spree for me him/her – I think we deserve some nice new clothes 😀

    xo
