With baby girl due in two months, we’ve been debating what we will do once she is a few months old. She will stay in our room for the first few months but since we live in a two bedroom house and Jack is more than used to having his own room now, it is more than likely that we are going to be looking for a slightly bigger place to live come next summer.
That’s not to say we don’t love where we are – of course we do – but it just probably won’t fit our needs by next summer. Unfortunately we live in a very highly sought after area and are already paying over the odds for a two bedroom place so finding a three bedroom is going to be tricky. However if we do manage to find somewhere that suits our needs – space, budget and location because of Jack’s school – then there are a few things we will definitely be looking for…
Bigger Kitchen
We love our house but our kitchen could definitely do with being a little bit bigger. If we were to move elsewhere a bigger kitchen would definitely be high up on the list for our priorities.
Plenty of storage space
The house we currently live in has a flat roof so no loft to put things in. We do have a garage which has become a bit of a dumping ground for some of our stuff that we haven’t got the space for in the house but it would be nice to have plenty of storage space at a new house and perhaps even a garage there too.
Lots of light
We are lucky in that we get a lot of light come in from the back of the house due to our bifold doors. This is something we would be hoping to have in other houses as nothing beats natural sunlight streaming in – especially when you’re trying to take blog photos, right?
Less carpeted space
With a baby and a 5 year old (which Jack will be very soon, eek!), carpets are a persons worst enemy as stains can be tough to get out. Having laminate flooring may be the better option for us so its something we would be looking for in potential properties.
Have you ever had to upgrade your home due to a growing family? How hard was it to leave your current home? Did you have a list of things that took priority in why you would choose somewhere to live?
