Buying Things For Baby & Mummy

Now that I am over halfway through my pregnancy, the time has come to start buying things for the baby. Luckily we have a lot of things left over from when Jack was a newborn but of course we want to buy some things especially for baby girl – especially some cute little dresses and stuff like that! She has a cot already (Jack’s one that was bought by his grandparents) and we have a new (to us) pushchair and highchair plus plenty of clothes given to us. We’ve actually not bought any clothes ourselves (well, Jack has bought a few things with Mummy’s money) but we will be soon.

One thing I really need to get though is a pregnancy pillow. I’ve been reading up on different websites to find the best pregnancy pillows available to see which is the best pillow for me now I am getting so far into my pregnancy. I am having real trouble sleeping at the moment and it is affecting lots of things – I’m finding myself being extremely irritable and then feeling really exhausted halfway through the day. That is number one on the to buy list for Mummy – but what about for baby?

The one thing we really need to get for baby girl is a Moses basket. Jack had one before he moved into the (massive) cot his grandparents bought him and we think it is vital baby girl has the same. However our old one that Jack had has seen much better days and we desperately need a new one so we are keeping our eyes out for good deals.

I’ve also been scouring the local selling pages for second hand things to buy and have come up quite lucky in some instances – when it is a family friend who is selling they’ve either decided to give us the stuff for free and won’t take anything for it or have given it to us at a very large discount which no one else would get. I even turned up to school to pick Jack up the other day and was handed a bag full of gorgeous second hand sleepsuits by one of the mums. We are very lucky living where we do.

I’ve not really bought much for me or baby girl yet but plan to get the few things mentioned above and am definitely taking recommendations – after all I don’t want to be left with something that doesn’t do the job properly.

What items do you think are essential for mum and baby? Have you got any recommendations?
