#KidsDressKids with House of Fraser

First of all, let me apologise for being completely MIA for the past few weeks. I have been so poorly and am still not 100% and even when I have been better, I have been so busy with Jack’s school stuff and prior arrangements made weeks ago that the blog has been a little neglected – and I am sorry about that!

A couple of weeks ago, Jack was asked by House of Fraser to choose a selection of items himself to create an outfit for the #KidsDressKids challenge. Now my little man can come up with some crazy combos so I often try to guide him when we are clothes shopping but this time, it was all down to him. He got to choose a number of items from the kids range and here is the finished result, complete with happy posing (I think he’s been reading some fashion blogs without me!) and then some quite frankly hilarious facial expressions as he started to get a little tired of the photoshoot…

As you can see, Jack chose things for all weathers! A raincoat, some sunglasses, some joggers and a tee! Prepared for any eventuality, my boy. When asked why he chose each item, his answers varied from quite simple and mundane to hilarious! The raincoat was apparently one of the more simple choices – I’d mentioned in passing to him that he was in need of a new coat as his old one was starting to look a little threadbare and he must have taken it on board without me realising, noting that he needed a new one and insisting on me picking it! It has come in very handy with the recent weather too!

You may or may not know this about my son but he is a BIG animal lover and he adored this cat shirt as soon as he set eyes on it. It was in the girls section but I am a big believer of not enforcing gender stereotypes on my child and Jack wanted it so he got it. Its a super cute tee and Jack may or may not have miaowed at it when it arrived. His reasoning for choosing it? “It’s got a cat, Mummy!”

Perhaps my most favourite items that he chose are the joggers and the sunglasses. If Jack could, he would live in joggers but all of his are either black or grey, really rather drab colours. After seeing these electric blue ones, he apparently ‘needed’ to have them as blue was his new favourite colour. He’s since gone back to loving green as his favourite colour but hey, four year olds can be fickle and he really loves these, asking to wear them constantly and getting annoyed if they’re in the wash!

By far and away my favourite item that he picked were these amazing sunglasses. I posted this pic on Instagram too and everyone seemed to love them. Jack is a sunglasses fiend, I don’t know any four year old with as many pairs as Jack and apparently he needed a new pair as he wanted to be ‘a cool dude’ – I think that is a phrase he has heard from one of his cartoons or perhaps a video on YouTube Kids but when he said that, it absolutely cracked me up!

What do you think of Jack’s outfit choices? Would you be brave enough to let your child put a whole outfit together? Although I wouldn’t have put the combination Jack has together, I think he looks quite cool – he seems to have a very blue theme going on, don’t you think?

  1. Oh my goodness…this is adorable! Reminds me so much of Carson when he chooses his outfits. I want those glasses too!

  2. His outfit is so cute and it’s good that you aren’t enforcing gender stereotypes as I would not have guessed this was specifically a girls top x

Awww, so cute! It’s so sweet that he picked something for all weathers. I LOVE his tee shirt, how very cute! And he looks super cool in his sun glasses. I love that he put the outfit together himself, I would (and have!) let my children do the same. 🙂 I think it’s great they find there own style. xx

  4. He has great taste in sunglasses, I want a pair! I like that you don’t enforce gendered clothing so what if it was in the girls section! xx
