My Favourite Summer Desserts

I don’t know about you but I adore the summer (I think most people do though!) and love nothing more than dining outside whether it be in my own garden, a pub garden or a picnic. I have my favourite meals to eat in the garden in the summer – salads often feature but everyone knows I am a total dessert fiend and would choose a dessert over a starter or main any day!

I thought it would be nice to compile a list of my favourite summer desserts and perhaps even make myself a little hungry in the process. What desserts do you like?

Frozen desserts such as sorbet have to be one of my top picks. There is nothing better than an ice cold dessert in the blistering sunshine to cool you down and they come in such a variety of flavours as well! I have tried making my own in the past and failed miserably but I am totally going to give it another try!

Another favourite of mine has to be a good old Key Lime Pie – not only does it taste delicious but it looks good too! I never had Key Lime Pie until I was in my twenties and now I wouldn’t be without it – I’ve been missing out for all these years!

I also love a good cheesecake but it can’t be a New York cheesecake – they are the only type of cheesecake I don’t like! Perhaps one of my favourite desserts and most simple is some fruit and a little yogurt – its so simple and easy to put together but so refreshing when the sun is blaring down on you. I even have it for breakfast occasionally!

Of course I love a good crumble or apple pie but they are definitely more winter desserts, aren’t they? I’ve now made myself very hungry so I’m going to head off and try my hand at a few of the desserts I’ve mentioned. I’ve helped Steve to make Key Lime Pie before but I am determined to get the knack of making sorbet right – and that will only happen/I will only get better if I practice, practice, practice! Wish me luck!
