This post is written in collaboration with Lovehoney Boutique.
As parents to three children aged 12 and under, time alone for me and my partner is very rare. However we have started to make time for each other – getting a babysitter and heading out for a bite to eat or to the cinema every now and again.
However as you can imagine, we have to do things on a budget sometimes as our funds often get swallowed up by the kids travel, school clubs and extra-curricular activities. I wanted to share with you five different date night ideas that you could try.
Cook A Meal At Home For Each Other
If one of you is the chef at home normally, why not let the other take the lead and cook a delicious meal for once? Put the kids to bed early or in front of a film in their rooms and take the time to enjoy some good food and company.
Try Some Different Activities
We love a board game in our house and we have plenty to choose between. We even used to have a game night with friends. It is something that both of us enjoy so playing board games for couples, available from LH Boutique, sounds like a great idea! Spending time together is so important and the board games available are lots of fun!

Have A Day Date
So many people think that dates have to be done in the evening but this isn’t the case at all! On the odd occasion that my partner has some time off of work, we take the time to go and do something new and exciting – something that you might not usually consider for a date. A trip to the museum or a day relaxing at the spa are both great choices for a day date.
Try An Escape Room
I LOVE an escape room! They require plenty of thought but with a time limit, you know that you won’t be there all day! There are so many different types of escape rooms around right now – plenty of different themes too – so you can always try a new one each date! We have done a couple now in our local area and we are keen to try a few more!
Go To The Cinema
This is an oldie but a goodie when it comes to date ideas but there’s a reason why so many of us choose to go here! I don’t go to the cinema as often as I did when I was much younger as it just isn’t as affordable as it used to be. However I do like to go for the big films – franchises we follow and from actors we like. We try and go a couple of times a year.
These are just a few date night ideas that I have to share with you. Time alone together can be so rare in the busy life everyone leads, let alone as parents, so it is important to make the most of the time together and cherish it.
