You’ve hired a band and that’s the main thing, right? If they’re any good, they’ll do all the heavy lifting and get the whole room throwing shapes. Sure, a good musical act is important because people have to feel it in their bones to start jiving, but they aren’t miracle workers. Without the right encouragement, guests will sit in their seats and make your wedding feel more like a funeral, which is why you need to give them a push. Don’t worry because it isn’t difficult when you have these bona fide secrets to hand.
Take Requests
For the most part, you should leave the professionals to do their job as that’s why you’ve hired them. However, there should be a couple of diamonds in the rough thrown in for good measure to keep everybody interested. You know what musicians can be like! Asking the entertainment to take requests means you can get the guests to come up with a selection of their faves and encourage them to boogie on down. Be sure to ask beforehand because bands and DJs can be rigid when it comes to requests and you don’t want to get peoples’ hopes up.
Mobilise The Bar
A bit of liquid courage is always necessary to get guests to feel the beat, but they shouldn’t have to travel to get a drink. Sometimes, the bar can be so far away that they need a rest on their way back. Or, it’s packed and takes ages to get served. A wedding mobile bar hire is the perfect solution for two reasons. Firstly, it takes the pressure off the staff of the main bar and keeps everyone well oiled. Secondly, you can plonk it as near to the dance floor as possible so that top-ups are easy.
There you are, enjoying the sight of hundreds of your nearest and dearest dancing like nobody’s watching when a voice bellows out: “CAKE!” Okay, everyone wants to watch you cut it, mostly because they want a piece, yet it’s not the most important thing in the world. Worst of all, it interrupts the flow of dancing. The best thing to do is to get the formalities of the wedding out of the way early. Then, you can dance into the night. That means speeches, dinner and photos too.
Be The Focal Point
You have so much mingling to do it doesn’t seem humanly possible. Therefore, you’re not going to spend all night dancing. Still, you should make sure to nip on and off the boogie wonderland for the sake of the guests. People at weddings follow the bride and groom like a hawk and revolve around them. So, if you’re on the floor, they will be too. You can split up into a team – good wedding practice – and have one person mingling and the other doing the worm. Or you can use your wedding party.
If the best man and chief bridesmaid are present, the happy couple won’t be far behind.
