Parenting Woes

There are a few things when it comes to parenting that are incredibly annoying – people telling you how to parent your child, the inevitable bodily fluid scenario and the worst of them all: a good old Lego brick on the soles of your feet. Is there anything worse than treading on one of those whilst barefooted? It is agony and it is inevitable that your child will find it absolutely hilarious!

I don’t know about you but I often find myself in awe of the amount of stuff Jack actually has. It seems never ending and whilst we don’t treat Jack all that often (time and money constraints see to that!), it seems like there is often a steady flow of stuff coming in for him but nothing going out! His grandparents on either side are always treating him to some new toy or giving him money for his piggy bank as do many other people and it gets to the point where you think is this ever going to end? Just how many toys does this one little boy need?

I am quite grateful that Steve’s parents now keep any toys they buy Jack at their house for when they babysit him as the amount we were getting was just silly! I have recently been thinking about getting rid of some that he just doesn’t have an interest in or are too small for him now. But where to get rid of them? I remember when it used to be very hard to sell toys but luckily there seems to be more of a market for it now – and with Jack having played with some of these things just once or twice, why not sell them on to someone who will enjoy them whilst also boosting Jack’s ever increasing piggy bank? I swear he is richer than me!
