Wedding

Wedding Planning Wednesday | 020

This week again hasn’t involved much of the old wedding planning which to some people would make this series entirely redundant. However, I have been working out a budget recently as to how much we can save each month and also budgeting for what we want – I have already decided that I don’t want a crazily expensive dress but I do want a videographer and perhaps a photo booth – how amazing did the photo booth look at Fleur and Mike’s wedding?

We do currently have outstanding debts to our family which, of course, we want to remove before wholeheartedly committing to saving for the wedding. Whilst we are paying back a little each month whilst also saving a fair amount, we know that we need to pare down to the bare essentials in order to get these gone in a decent amount of time. Although Steve is working himself to the bone, he is going to see if he can get any more hours and I am also applying for various work at home jobs (none of these scam things, though!), freelance writing gigs and doing the odd shift at my local – a job I always seem to find myself coming back to! I also have a pile of stuff ready for Ebay and one of these cash for clothes websites. We are determined to make sure each little bit of debt is obliterated as soon as is humanly possible.

I am also toying with the idea of putting myself on another spending ban from next month until the end of November, only paying out for the bare essentials plus Jack’s birthday presents – his birthday is right at the beginning of December so I can’t really leave it until the end of November to start picking things up.

Budgeting is a lot of hard work but it is worth it in the end and I am determined that we will get what we want, even if it takes a while!

If you’re currently planning your wedding, how did you get on this week?

  2. We decided on sunday we needed a videographer, i booked one yesterday for £400 that covers from guests arriving to the end of the first dance! To be honest im just impressed i found not one but THREE that have our date available with less than 3 months to go!

  3. I do love photobooths! I'll be getting one just to keep the kids occupied haha! If you want a professional photo booth (with an actual photographer, lit backgrounds/foregrounds etc (something to give back to the guests) and a videographer/photographer, Dan does it all! 🙂 xx

  4. Hey I've seen photobooths on Groupon-type sites, maybe look out for them there? You usually have a year or so to redeem the voucher.
Good luck! I just started with a work-from-home type gig and I'm hopeful it will help pay the bills!

  5. Good look with the saving..
I reckon even our 'low key' wedding is going to cost us a good £3-4,000. :/ I have started picking a few bits up from Amazon ad Ebay, as to spread the cost.. We have yet to finalise the date with the venue, but it'll def be next December. 🙂
