But how can you be sure that the one you have chosen is the right one for your child or children?
Do Your Research
When you have a shortlist of places you would like your child to attend, it is important that you do your homework. Look up their Ofsted ratings, look up school guides and even join local Facebook groups to see what parents with children there have to say about the schools you are looking at. All the statistics you need will be available so you can see what things the schools are good at and where they are lacking.
Arrange A Visit
You should always visit a school if you are considering sending your child there. Even if you are looking at the best private schools near me, you should make sure that the facilities and staff are actually what you expect. It is important to see it for yourself and see what the school is like – what teachers are like, what the kids can do there and what current pupils have to say.
Schools tend to have Open Days and Open Evenings so check the dates of these in your area and visit all of the different schools you are interested in on their specific dates.
Ask Questions
Whether on a visit or by calling the school, you should ask questions. Ask about staff turnover, how they help children who are struggling, what school leavers have to say of the school. Ask staff, parents and pupils to get a wide variety of answers.

Does your child excel in a specific subject? Some schools have a higher focus on one topic over others so it might be worth looking into schools that will nurture your child’s excellence and help them to grow and thrive.
If they enjoy science, consider a school with a science focus. If they enjoy the arts, find a school who has a really good arts department.
